Is there any place I can find non translated Vasudan personas for download?
-

additional FS1/FS2 downloads can be found:

NO! not that stuff. I mean the Vasudan Wingman voice files but with no Robot translation voice over them.
-
SG, those should be the untranslated files. Listen through them again.

I did thats what I was thinking but then I whent back and listened to the wingman ones and found the sounds not the same at all, all the words are completely differint from the VasudanTalk.wav file.

Are they? Well, then the answer is simply no.

I think I see what you want; I have noticed many different types of Vasudan talk used in the default game sounds also, both in FS1 and FS2. Unfortunately, the only sample of untranslated Vasudan speech we have is that one file, so unless someone figures out how V did the original files you're out of luck, although you may be able to spool off stuff from the ends of existing files.
Here are a few examples:
This guy seems to be mumbling something different than what is in vasudantalk.

A bit more angry one here:

A Vasudan screaming out a curse maybe? :D

Can't we just tern down the Robot Voice so we can only here Vasudan?

Nope
-
Can we ask DaveB how they did it?
-
That's the best thing I can think of; he drops in the source code forum every now and then, right?
-
Correct But if we asked DaveB about every minor question we had, he'd probably leave.
But then this isn't really a minor thing either. Vasudan speach could be good for me also. In the start of the TVWar, there are no translators.

Yes there are.
FSRefBible;
When humans first discovered they were not alone in the universe, there was dancing in the streets.
The Vasudans had an advanced civilization, a fascinating history, and an evolved culture. They were similar to humans in many ways. Unfortunately, those similarities included irrational fear, and the willingness to sacrifice lives over politics. It didn’t take long for hostilities to break out, and for the first interplanetary war in history to begin.
.
.
.
Terran-Vasudan communication was relatively easy to establish, despite the fact that Vasudan vocal cords are unable to make the sounds needed to produce the English language (now refered to as “Terran Standard” by spacers). This requires the use of small translational devices during any T-V exchange. The speaker talks in a low tone near the “squawker” and it translates and speaks for the user in the desired language. Small earpieces allow the devices to relay the opposite translations to the user. While the squawkers work on both species, the Vasudans are typically the ones to wear the devices.
Fs1 species.tbl;
Vasudan society is complex and filled with peril for the outsider ignorant of their culture. Vasudans have a range of social tests and protocols, such as The Conversation. A Terran mishandling of The Conversation is presumed to be one of the major causes of the V-T War.
So communication obviously took place pre-War... even if it was shoddy at best.
-
I'm sure they didn't have communication devices at first contact, which the player will witness.
-
Two things...
BWO had something along the lines of this, someone did an explanation of how they make Vasudan's wavs... (including the translation) they did it in stages, one of those stages has what you're after, the problem being I don't have a clue where to find it...heh, sorry.
Second thing, there was definatly comms between T's'n'V's before the 14year war, if it says it in the reference bible and the techroom it's true...most of the time, besides, I kinda like the way it points out 'humans screwed up' :p
However, Hades' right again, at first contact, no different culture on earth has had a translator, people had to study the languages and try to bring common verbs and nouns and things into frame in order to assertain the rest of the language, that's what they'd have to do here, admittedly it'd be a lot harder, but yeah, hades is right...hehe
There's something do to with the speed/static and another factor (pitch?) it's simple distortions to make V speech.
And, btw, the 'robotic pitch' you think is added in, is actually how Vasudan's are supposed to sound, they're just meant to be alien to us(refering to vasudan's talk hosted on the Volition FS1 website...).
Read Aldo's quote of the reference bible again.
And yes, this is probably one of my worst post structures ever..hehe :p

Time to pimp GoldWave (http://goldwave.com/gwave426.exe), methinks. The 'mechanize' option turns human voices in to passable translated Vasudan speach - I assume you'd be needing this at some point.
-
Goldwave is one of the programs the person used, btw, for a little bit of proof to my comment about 'vasudan talk.wav' being the real vasudan text, go watch the shield test video clip in FS1, the Vasudan dude talks before the translator kicks in (same happens in all speach, but it's easiest to notice in the video clip) it's pretty clearly the wav or another version of it..
-
How about we say that they only had Text tranlators and not Voice ones yet that makes sence right? then tords the end of the war the Vasudans made a Voice verent to talk to the Tarrens more directly this could also serve as a good four or five mission story in the T-V war campgian. It also sets what is said about the Vasudans in the tech info, that they had been out in space for a longer time because of their need for food, and reasorces.
-
FredZone has a bit about the Vasudan speech:
http://pub11.ezboard.com/fjtofrm11.showMessage?topicID=33.topic
-
I think we all know how to make the "robot" translator voice pretty well - just mechanize it at a certain level - but the question is how to make the actual Vasudan speech itself. It is probably some set of sound mixing commands that can be applied to a regular speech file in something like Goldwave, but what these commands are is anyone's guess.
-
I thought that was the actual Vasudan speech. Didn't try it out, but assumed so.
-
You could probably take the little bits of non-translated speech that we do have, and just copy + paste a lot in Goldwave in order to get 'new' pieces of Vasudan talk.
Failing that, we need to track down DaveB and ask him

Tried that somewhat for SA, results sound like a cut and paste of the standard vasudantalk.wav. But someone somewhere does know how to do this, because I have a non-standard Vasudan voice wave that sounds really good that I got from Inferno. The question is, who?
*goes off to PM Woomeister*

Apparently it came from a V vp (probably FS1). So no luck there. :(

So what did you think of the idea for the Text Translaters? :nervous: I think it would make it cooler, and makes the first contact possible with no translaters at all. Then later on say........ 4-5 weaks later we made text translaters and gave them to the Vasudans. I think it has great promiss and gives the story righter more room to make a story.
EDDIT: I know this is off task but I like it so much I had to say it.
-
the only wahy you can do that, is by creating a rebel terran grupo or terrosist millisia on eather side, and make a small war that was so small thay ppl didin't notice it, if you want a original vesudan untraslated voice, I think Im allmos got it, give me a month or lest and I will do allthe voices you want, I have been playing aound with speed, pitch, metalize ans other FX
