I was looking about on the web and ran across this odd game called "ColoBots" (//www.colobot.com). Basicly, its a combination RTS/3rd person game, that sets you up as this astronaut completing missions and controlling robots. What makes the whole thing cool is that you can program your robots to do stuff using this C++-like language.
I've played through the demo and thought it cute, so I thought I'd mention it here.

It sounds like the old cybertank game , basically you work for some company in the future and you gotta make the aforementioned cybertanks, You gotta program the AI using a simple basic-like system, When i was EIGHT years old i mastered this on my 286 and heres a link to DL it, underdogs is great for anyone in my age group (20 and older) to find childhood faves.OMEGA .... Anyhow i digress http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?name=Omega get it there......

I remember hearing about a game called MindRover (http://www.cognitoy.com) that is similar to this; it got quite high reviews as well. They also have some Java app there that is a simplified version of the game.

Remember MUSE software? They published a similar game for the Apple II called "Robot Wars". Pitted robots against each other in arena combat. You had to program their AIs. Sounded like a cool concept.
Then of course there's the grandaddy of them all, Core Wars.
