Well That took forever to do.
But now I have the Zenith converted with only a slight niggle with the thruster flames.
I made a texture for it but If anyone wishes to improve on my efforts I'd love to see the results.

I'll post up the mod once I've got those thruster flames fixed.

I thought the Zenith was a Shaivan cruiser from FS1? (the SC Zenith that you had to destroy during part 1 of the Journey to Altair missions).

Can't see crap. And I've got monitor brightness on full.

This is a ship class, so Zenith is fine to use. Hell, I could call a ship the Orff class (insert ship type here) if I wanted to and it wouldn't really matter much.
What I can see of the ship (and it is quite dark), it looks like a large, grey crystal. Well, maybe more like fish scales. It makes it look quite odd. What race is it for? If we knew we could make a better assesment of the look.

Visit Warpstorm. ("http://www.warpstorm.com") Do it now.

I know there is a method, but all I see is madness.

Sorry about the screen grab quality.
The Zenith is a third Generation Fighter built by the same Terran/Vasudan co-operative that made the Ulysses.
The Armour is supposed to be scale like,
so it can easily be repaired by replacing
only damaged sections.
Here ("http://www.red-phil.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/zenith.zip") is the working version of the model to look at.

The design of the model itself is awesome, but I think there's a bit too much contrast in the scales.
-
Well the problem is I can model and texture but I can't draw.
If you look at the download the texture map is in there. Anyone feeling like a challenge could fix the texture. Who knows what it would look like in Ancient style textures.

I know what you mean (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I like the textures, though. Maybe a little more vent detail or something would improve it, thoug. If you're stuck for ideas, goto the descent-network site (can't remember the URL) and D/L some of the the big renders of the Apollo (I think) on the art section. They were done by (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) for the cutscenes (hence are really detailed), so you can pick up a lot of ideas for detail from that.

just pointing this out but,
ship classes are usually named for the 1st ship of that class i.e. the enterprise D(coolest trek ship ever) is a galaxy class ship meaning the first galaxy class ship was the USS Galaxy.

Well in my campaign, the origal Hecate was a Orion class destroyer. It led the 4th fleet in extinguishing the Shivan presence in known space right after the GW. The Orion encountered a beam wielding destroyer and rammed it to save the rest of the fleet. 4 years later the GTD-Hecate was commisoned on a new design based upon the beam research done from years back
