Hi all,
I got myself(rather, my dad got himself) a copy of 3Dsmax
I was browsing about the web and could only find a plugin & covert util for the descent 3 .OOF format, I was wondering how similar are the .OOF and .POF formats? Couldn't find it on the DDN site
Regards, Solaufein
p.s. did I forget to mention that the programm that converts the .P3D into .OOF s is called pofgen.exe?

I think i found a way around the problem, I just found a .3ds to .cob converter:)

The formats are very very different, because they're for different games. :) Using an OOF file in FS2, IIRC, involves converting it to n ORF file, then to a 3ds file, then to a cob, and then to a POF. (Might have the ORF/OOF conversion backwards actually.) I actually made an object with D3Edit and managed to convert it to a POF. Just to see if I could do it. :)

Solaufein, don't stress yourself over Crossroads 1.0. [Which programmer puts a picture of his newborn as the banner for his program? Who will buy it? Let alone use it?) Anyway, I think that you'll find 3D Exploration much better. Do a search over on Google or Yahoo or some other popular search engine.
Also, someone post our new friend a link to a copy of Lithunwrap. Thanks.

Thnx, Saved me some time.
As I was fooling around with truespace 2, i noticed that TS does know 3dsmax's .3ds format but needs a plugin (3DS.SET) to load the files, of course its nowhere to be found, so if one of you guys has it, id like to try it too.

Huh? My TS2 doesn't have a 3ds.set file but it does open 3ds files. Did you buy TS2 way back when or did you download the version that Caligari released a while back?

Downloaded it

To load a 3DS file in TS2 do: File | Load Object... and select the file in the open dialog box. Works fine for me. (Be aware it may not be able to open 3ds files from versions that are newer then TS2, and I personally don't think it opens 3ds files very well anyways.)
