My guess is DX2 or 3.
And there's no DX4 at all.
-
DX 6

update/restore all multimedia drivers... including sound, video, DirX etc, ensure this is not a global problem by checking out similar games.
Edit: one more thing, i found that since i put a big scratch in disk 2, the game wouldn't install the Tango VPs right, so i just didn't select them in the installation process, then manually copied them. Corrupt VPs will usually cause crashes.

OK. And FS2 requires DX3 for the basic stuff, and DX6 for D3D, Force Feedback, and Direct Sound.
So unless I'm missing something fundamental here, why would Alexander need to install DX 8.1 to get it working?
-
Because some drivers require it.
btw, a good way to prevent this is to get yourself a copy of Win2k, and create a guest account for your dad, and make yourself the administrator. :D
-
Ah. Live and learn.
But if you're going to do that, you might as well grab a copy of XP home and make yerself an admin on that

What, Microsoft can't count? Maybe that's why all their code is buggy.
