Why is Freespace 2 so limited? You can have only 50 ships in a mission...How can you do huge battles?

use more cap ships and less fighters.
with ten collosus' and ten sathanas with cruiser and destroyer escort and fighter wings to protect i know from experience you can have a good battle only problem is freeying all of their beams...

50 ship limit? I'm pretty sure I've had more than that in a mission...

To simulate a large fighter battle, use respawning wings. To simulate a large capship battle, use less fighters. To simulate both, use loads of respawning wings and make the capships appear at different times, ie. Aeolus 2 appears when Aeolus 1 is destroyed.

heres what I found: Max # of Sathans: 10, Max # of hectates: 19, Max # of Deimos: 21, Max # of Fenris: 40, Max # of Perseus: 138.

Probably none, they don't take up as much memory- but I wouldn't blow up all 10 Sathanas at once- you'd probably get lots of skipping.

true. the max limit in ferd is 80. with respawn you can get some more ingame, but FS2 will eventualy crash if there's too much
