Here is the GTB Apollyon bomber as seen in the fs1 intro cutscene. We will be using it in the TVWar later on, but for now I have done a beta version of it.

mmh...this ship has to be the one with the most different versions ever done by fans in any existing game :p

Yeah, you're right. But the Apollo is a pretty good fighter. Its is almost perfectly balanced.
The Apollyon is more torpedo balanced. It carries weak primaries, and MAYBE a few turrets. But it also carries hella-powerful bombs to try and blow up those Vasudan warships.

Actually, it took me about an hour. I played around with the lighting, I had to change th gun bank stuff on the .pof file, I had to keep switching from the concept on dexent-network to Paintshop Pro.

It's fine. The red looks interesting. Where are you putting all the gun mounts?

Could have at least made the cockpit a bit longer. I mean, I shouldn't be criticizing, since I have no texturing abilites what so ever, but still.

I might try to make the cockpit a little bigger. I took out the front strut and colored the other one yellow.
Well, as you can see from where the gun mounts normally are, missile slots are going there. But where the missile mounts are there are three little cannons in the pics on Descent Network. Gun mounts are going here, but only two of them.
And no, I didn't just switch all the missiles to guns and vice versa. There is a missile slot where each of the three missiles are. A total of one gun bank and two missile.

no I wasn't. that so-called apollo bomber varient from the intro has been made so many times I can't count them.

Funny, this is the first one I've seen. When i asked you guys about this a while back nobody knew about one.:D
I though you meant the Apollo had been redone so many times. I saw one at the VWatch archives that had flames on it and had a "**** Happens" bumper sticker. I might put some of these, and some of my own into the MOD as bonus ships. Same properties, cool textures.

I think you need to darker the lighter bits... IIRC the cutscene model was all a fairly dark shade. At the moment it looks odd, because one half seems to be dark and red, and another white and blue - which is pretty nasty contrast wise.

Yeah, aldo is right. Make the cockpit and engine nacelles the same dark shade as the rest of it.

don't forget the one in the intro isquite beaten up too.

Are you going to have a co-pilot in it? The FS1 cutscene did - although he was dead. I can see him/her giving advice to the player etc.

For FREDders a two person bomber could be a godsend. No more having to protect, invulnerable or guardian the other fighters. You can just have the co-pilot do a lot of the extrainious chat :)
I hope we're going to be seeing lots of chatter from the co-pilot (better still make him a character who stays with Alpha from beginning to end of the campaign :D )

I think it worked well in Starlancer with Moose sitting in the back.

I'm working on darkening it. Then I'll make a "render" in Paintshop Pro 7. I don't have Lightwave, so I just open the model in Model view, and cut and paste the ship into paintshop pro.
I don't have Truespace, or whatever the NURB button is on.
I might tint the whole thing a little blackish, and draw a co-pilot in there. But the player won't be using it that often, just for a few bombing missions...Including one where the player gets in trouble so can't go on the mission with Lt. Ash. Lucky him.:D

hmmm interesting needs a little more detail change if you ask me.

OK, I've edited the apollo model to make it a little more bulky and such. It needs new UV mapping in places but if you want it I got it.

What do you suggest? I'm not that great at doing detail. Those missile racks are black and white racks from the Ulysses.
EDIT: I can't UV map it. Sorry. I can't even retexture, just edit existing ones.

I know, I've based my model on that. Only problem is cutscene inaccuracy. Who's to say that that cutscene is completely accurate? I've already shown this in the TVWar forum but I think these Apollyons look much better, though not close to the cutscene.

hmm it does look mirrored.. and the crafts class seems to start with an S... interesting..

Yeah, if you put GTF onthe side, it will mirrored, even on the Apollo. Don't think I tried to put it there though.
