Hey, jes wanna know. Has anyone made, or heard of a co-op mod of the Freespace2 single player campaign?? My Squad's looking fer it. Purdy please anyone!
-
i doubt it, but you're posting this in the wrong forum... i'm going to move it to the General Freespace forum...
What this project is about is all the FREESPACE 1 missions converted to FREESPACE 2. (Single and multiplayer missions)
however, this project has nothing to do with co-op missions converted to multi. i'll move this to General Freespace, and you'll get a much better response there.
Thanks ;)

all community, help this guy out!

You can extract the missions yourself, open them in notepad and change them into multiplayer AND singleplayer missions by changing the +Game Type Flags: from 1 to 11.
Then open FRED and change the other ships in alpha wing into ships which can be players. FRED will probably complain but the mission will work.
Here's the first 10 missions which have already done this to. You can`t play them on PXO but if you`ve got a LAN you can play them (that's why I made them)
It's a stop gap until someone makes a better attempt at it :)

if they're multiplayer missions then they can be played on PXO can't they? they just aren't validated

Manners, guys? :D
(http://members.cox.net/~wmcoolmon/images/welcome.gif)
Flamethrowers are under the seats, plasma rifles in the lockers to the front, emergency exits to either side. Your seat cushion can be used as a floatation device in case of emergency.
Back on topic, I've also converted Clash of the Titans and Black Omega, two of the greatest FS1 missions, to FS2 non-modded multiplayer. Check them out on the Port page.

Cheers Stealth! Your all beautiful (Sniff). Thanx muchly fer the first ten gigs Kara, but is there a mission extractor or something? How'd extract them.
Cheers again fer moving Stealthy. Only found it last night and I was kinda stoned when I found the site.
-
That's the only way I like to view HLP :thepimp:
Anyway, track down a little proggie called VPView in order to browse the VP archives in the FS2 directory and extract the mission you want. Piece of piss.
-
There was a multi-player version of the main campaign on the VolitionWatch Archives, but since they had their crash, if may not be back on there yet.

You extract them using VPView. You can find full details on where to get it and how to use it in my FAQ
-
or to download VP view from my site, go to this link:
http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/stealth/downloads.html
:) it's at the bottom, under "Tools"
good luck, start posting more, you're now a part of the community :D

Better to get the entire kit then just one particular tool, since if you want one you'll probably want one or more of the others eventually . :)

not a problem... on that same page i have the entire kit up for download :)

That's why I didn't link to the Descent-Network download page. ;) (Looks like at least some of your download links are the same as theirs anyways.)
-
Nice one folks, massive respect to you all!
Yeah, k, a mate of mine's grabbed a whole bunch of the tools you guys have suggested (I'm using his puter at the mo) so I haven't had a chance to check em out yet, but he says they're mustard (hot), so if it's good enough fer him...
He's extracted the fs2 campaign fer co-op multiplay and we're gonna test it just to be sure it's the article (legit, no niggly little annoying bugs that bite you in the arse and make you scratch till you bleed therefore losing your enitre night's sleep before your final exam thus making you perfrom like shyte, type bugs). so if anyone wants it, you know where to get the tools from... :D
Nah jes messing with you, we'll get it posted soon. I'm off to take a butcher's at the links now. Thanks again fer being so helpful, you folks just completely rock! Big ups to you all!
-
By the way Stealth, 15 what??

-
Cockney?! Where?! (legs it)
...nah, jes under the influence of a mate.
Oh hey, almost forgot. I haven't had a chance to D/L all the wonderful toys you folks have forwarded me (*chokes up* You guys rock! Party on, *sniff*) but I'm assuming they can all be used on mods and whatnot right?
Heading interstate but when I get back I wanna try and port a few of those sweet looking Super Veritechs or even that awesome YF21 when I get back
oh yeah, the 15 thing... a mate of mine knows a bit about binary... we thought it meant 15
-
Hey folks, found your site because of some former FS friends... and I'm going nuts trying to figure this out...
I've done everything said in this thread... or have I?
I'm desperately trying to get the Single Player campaign to play in Multiplayer mode (for LAN play) so my friends and I can play this game.
Is there a place where I can download a patch or something that someone has already done this with? He's over here right now, so that's what I'd like to do is get it working ASAP... I'm hoping someone's on right now that can help.. otherwise I'll have to put up with something else... /sigh
Thanks.
-
A while ago i converted most of the missions up to chapter 3 to work with 2 players, so i could go though the campaign with my friend. It worked pretty well, and really only took a days work.
But that was like last year, and i dont have the files, but it is easy to do.
And fun to play aswell.
-
Oh my goodness!!! I can't believe I finally have an answer to someone elses pray!!
I have a multiplayer version of the FS2 main campaign (The guys at FS port should really indeed make one of the FS1 campaign)
I've played it so much and it has a couple of bugs, specially with the SOC missions because the events are not ready for for more than one player.
Anyway I think it's a good start. Where shall I post/mail it??
PD - Sesquid is right. The original file was posted in VW archives but I actually e-mailed the guy that did them and he sent me annother copy a year or two ago....

I have seen it over at the volitionwatch archives somewhere. I have seen it multiple times.
-
A while back I downloaded a multiplayer version of the FS2 campaign from VW Archives, and started tinkering around with it. My goal was to make an acceptable modification for two players (also for LAN, as it turns out.) Now, I'm making an even more 'radical' transformation to four players. Before, I didn't make much of an attempt to balance gameplay, now I'm actually downscaling friendly forces and upgrading hostiles to a certain degree. The assumption, of course, being that one human player is many computer players.
The current version can be found here. (http://www.swooh.com/peon/ttfclusiop/FreeSpace/CooPFreeSpace2.zip)

Realize it's a rather old thread, but this works over tcp/ip as well (not just lan?)

On FS2_open retail or Kazan's latest net testing build, yep. Other versions of FS2_open apparently have problems with LAN play unless you feel like getting something a bit older (like 3.5.5).

ack....realized this is an old thread, post edited.

heh, someone do this multiplayer conversion to the Inferno mod. Heh heh heh heh....i want smarter wingmen to battle the Nemesis with =D
P.S. can the HLPBB welcoming wagon, i think i already received it. i just dont post often.
