Yes, that's right. Mr Eric Raymod (founder of the open source inititive, author of the jargon lexicon) thinks just that on his blog (http://armedndanderous.blogspot.com). It would be interesting to hear everyone's take on this fantastically coherent and totally rational prediction.

I don't agree that federally subsidised retirement will make Europe crash, nor do I agree that it will necessarily depress birthrate so completely.

The simple fact of the matter is that most people are too stupid to control their own sexual urges. As a result, there will always be the offspring of stupid people to grow up and go on the same subsidised retirement as their parents.

Don't underestimate stupid people.

This has been known for some time now; there are a number of factors in both the legal and cultural systems there that has been causing Europe's population to steadily decline, and I have heard some spectulation that in another 50 or so years all of world's population will basically be centered in three or four countries.
