now all we need is a holiday in december for us atheist :doubt:

New Years works for me

S' Called Kwanza and I don't think it's just for Black folk anymore.

No presents on new years (http://community.the-underdogs.org/smiley/misc/disgust.gif)

I don't celebrate Catholic Christmas (I am Orthodox), but I will send you guys an on-line card anyway. ;)
-
well I dont belive in religon, but I still celebrate christmas since my whole family dose anyway
-
I bet everyone talking about snow is in or near Maryland, right? :D There were 6-7 inches today here also (first one this year); better than expected... :D
I don't celebrate any religious festival (except when i solve a particularly tricky math problem, at which point I celebrate by doing another math problem and blowing up some people online ;7), but the more of those there are the better, since it means holidays. Although it does not affect me at the moment since I am home all the time, it will make a difference in a few years. :D

Don't you guys who don't follow anything in particular just use it as a "happy, greeting, see family, make them feel happy day?"
Hell we don't even mention Jesus or anything here rarely.. I think the most I get is when I occasionally have Christmas dinner at my grandparents (Grandfather is a minister) and He says the dinner prayer.
Edit: Snow.. lucky. We haven't even had rain since May. The Local lake (man made mind you) that I would water ski on in the summer, is now crossable by foot without getting wet.
-
4 inches in 2 hours here in cleveland on sunday, but its almost all melted by now.

I learned to board when I was stationed in Alaska (Gotta love having a Ski mountain ON base ) but since I've been back home in VA I haven't. Planning on getting my own board this year though...got a few ski spots within 2-3 hours of me ;)
For snow ...blah we only got about 2-3 inches and a coat of ice. Typical VA logic ... 90% of the area was shut down and yesterday you couldn't buy a gallon of milk or loaf of bread to save your life lmao
-
I love Christmas. Shame it's over so soon :(
Anyway, here's a video with a kitten in it: www.bertha.wha.la/tom/cat%20boxing.mpeg

Download the Jars of Clay - Drummer Boy song (not the Grinch remix - the regular one) - TH3 B3S7!!!1@
Oh, and your yearly tidbit of religious info that you never cared to know:
Most likely (according to historians), Jesus was born during the Feast of Tabernacles (Succot), not during/on Christmas. However, Succot generally falls in the fall, which puts it towards the end of September. Ok so far?
Now, what was miraculous about His coming into the world? It wasn't His birth - that was a completely natural human birth.
It was his conception.
Which would have been 9 months before Succot, leaving us with.... Dec. 25th? :D
Merrey Christmas, Happy Channukah, and Happy holidays to one and all! :)

Actually the date of his birth was set to override pagan Solstice holidays, not because he was actually born on that day.

I don't believe in the true meaning of christmas.
I celebrate the commercialisation of christmas :)

The obligatory kitten reference! Yay!
Those that don't celebrate Jesus's birth can still celebrate Santa Claus day - as 01010 said, the commercialization of Christmas.
Yes, the date of Jesus's birth (Jesus's Birthday - Observed ;)) was arbitrarily set at 12/25 to override existing religious festivals, but Sandwich brings up an interesting point.
By the way, Sandwich, do you celebrate both Christmas and Hannukah? ;7

Christmas is less than a week before new years, when the real partying is.

Actually, we don't celebrate Christmas, although we have plenty of friends who do. It's funny - Israelis absolutely love carolling! :D
And this year, I was in Babylon the Great-err... the US, for half of Channukah, so I didn't get to celebrate it much. Oh well, no harm done - it isn't a Biblical holiday, after all. :)
