I have a big problem. I just got a new PC and I can't run Freespace 2 properly. Right after I see the Intro, I get a window with the following message:
Error: Could not load in 2_ChoosePilot-m!
File:C:\projects\freespace2\code\UI\WINDOW.cpp
Line: 182
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
kernel32.dll 77e7eb69()
------------------------------------------------------------------
What is wrong here? I tryed to run it in 1024X768 (32) but it wont work. It won't work with other graphic options either. By the way, I am using Windows XP.
Please help. :(

do you have the high_res stuff installed (ie not on the cd)

I just installed artwork that was on the instalation CD. I don't have anything extra on it. I got the PC like 5 hours ago. The FS2 folder is absolutely clean.

I found these drivers on Nvidia.
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_41.09
By the way, my graphics card is GeForce 4 MX 420 with TV Out.
Do you think it would be wise perhaps to download these babies and use them?

BUMP

Well, I don't think that the drivers would give the error you are getting there. It is referring to a specific file inside the sparky_hi_fs2.vp, so you might want to try opening that up with vpview and make sure the file is not corrupted or anything.
also, have you patched the game?

You know I just did the oddest thing about Freespace 2 i ever did. I deleted the Sparky hi-res VP file and Freespace 2 works like a charm. This is odd isn't it. And when I started it I said like whoa after waiting about 7 sec.s for the mission to load.

Find the file on the old PC and copy it over... I can look for it in the interface folder and send you both versions if you need...

thats because fs code says
got sparky hi-res VP on the Hard-drive: no
then use low-res stuff.
