Title: Nemesis Review
Post by: Liberator on December 13, 2002, 11:18:14 pm
This is not a dupe of Carl's thread. This is for everybody to post the thoughts and feelings on Star Trek: Nemesis.

I personally liked it.  It's certainly in the Top Five Star Trek Movies of All Time .

My personal list is:
1.Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
2.Star Trek: First Contact
3.Star Trek: Nemesis
4.Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
5.Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Anyway, the movie was quite good.  With a nifty cameo by Kate Janeway.  Excuse me, Admiral Kathryn Janeway.  Also, there are a few inconspicuous similarites between Picard and Shinzon.

Final Score:
4.5 out of 5

Excuse me!  Janeway's an Admiral??  And Picard isn't???

Along with Carl's "spoiler", this film already has two strikes against it.

Hmm... the rest of the film must be pretty good if you still rank it in the top 5. :)

Meh, Janeway's flying a desk so she can't do damage as a captain.

Shizon made a good opponent for Picard. It's kind of like a Kirk vs. Khan relationship.

52 freaking disruptor cannons on that Reman thing. The Enterprise only has 12 phaser arrays, and it's the biggest in the fleet.

That shield quadrant graphic brought some familiarity :D (Data should have pressed the equalize shields button)

Bio-weapons? Cloning? Star trek deals with current events yet again.

They killed Data. Many angry letters will follow.

Uh, lets not forget that Janeway destroyed the borg Queen, Unimatrix One and a transwarp hub, incited the Borg civil war, formed ties with Species 8472, brought the federation ablaitive generator and transphasic torpedo technology as well as a ****-load of other stuff.

What's Picard done? Save Earth two or three times and started the Klingon civil war.

*fires up WinM.....err......'TicketMaster'*

They killed Data.

thats a plus. maybe the next film, and mark my words, there WILL be a next film will have better plot and less data. Unless they killed him in a WrathOfKhan way,

Doesn't count for much, since the same thing happened in First Contact and she came back.

Unimatrix One

Whether this is good or not is debatable.

Not a smart move.  With no proof of their intentions, she gave up the only weapon we had that worked against them.  Now the Federation is defenseless against a possible attack.

By breaking the Temporal Prime Directive.

I actually like Voyager...strictly for entertainment purposes.  But the series itself was not well done.  They threw away the premise of the show by not having conflict between the Federation and the Maquis and by getting Voyager home in leaps and bounds.  They made the Borg into pansies.  There was very little character development (except for Doc and Seven), far too many Reset Button (tm) plots, and enough plot holes to make a sponge.

Stupid Janeway, she killed off all the fun ideas about the Borg (Ex: Force of Nature)

Anyone here remember Hugh, the Borg with a sense of self?
