I've been making renders for ages, but never really tried to model anything, until now. So here's my first finished model that's more complicated than a corkscrew, the Suomi M/31 sub-machinegun.

The wooden part could maybe do with more detail, like a metal plate holding on the barrel and trigger, but the rest of the model looks good.
What program did you use?

Only about 20000 :D
I wasn't really paying attention to performance optimizing when I did this.

I used 3DS MAX 3.
There actually Is such plate. Here's one of the pics I used for reference:

It's just hidden inside the wooden part so you can't see it from that angle :)
