Been wondering how people talk lately... (getting tired of ICQ and it's registration crap)
Personally I like IRC the best, can talk to multiple people and has commands, nick-saving, multiple servers (unlike ICQ and such), scripts etc... :)
If your favorite's not in the list, then explain in the thread.

um, you forgot HLP forums... :p :D
Aside from that though, I tend to mostly stick with email, and use Trillian when it is necessary to have real-time communication.

Do you have it? I'm going to assume you don't...
1. get ICQ (www.icq.com, there's a download area)
2. run install and eventually you can get an account registration menu, fill stuff out
3. the default ICQ client automatically configures to your ICQ number as it gets it for you in registration
4. add people to your contact list by finding them (using an ICQ number or name/nick)
5. right click on things in contact list to find actions (you can message/send files/phone etc.)
Personally I think miranda is better for ICQ (http://miranda-icq.sourceforge.net/) but you still have to get an account via the default client (i'm pretty sure that's the ony way to get an account)

You can register via Miranda.
btw, Miranda supports nearly every IM protocol so there's no real reason to use that memory hog Trillian.

I wonder why your Miranda takes less resources than mine. :confused: (mine takes 5000 k or so) What version do ya have?

I voted for msn. U missed out SMS. It may not be entirely net, but its digital and electronic. Its also useful when ur standing in the middle of campus trying to find ur g/f and/or mates. :D Like the other day, but thats another story.... er... right, bye! :nervous:

Well it's not as pretty as trillian but more importantly as far as I could see it doesn`t support IRC.

Out of curiosity, I just installed Miranda. Upon entering my ICQ details, I got an illegal error message. I tried again, with the same results. I am therefore uninstalling Miranda. Let us never speak of it again.

i usually just use the phone or have a private b.net channel to talk to friends in, but since i don't really want to talk to any of the people that i know on icq or msn, i use AIM, which unfortunately also has a few people that i don't like, but the only people that i really do want to talk to use it, so it's AIM or nothing for me... (usually nothing)
oh, and forums, except my favorite is down... (whoever's trying to fix warpstorm, please hurry, i need my dose of insanty :) )

sorry to tell you dude, but WS is gone...apparently for good this time...
and I use trillian...it supports everything I use(AIM, ICQ, MSN, IRC, Yahoo)

Not that I'm aware of, but most people who chat use mIRC or something similar anyways. mIRC is far more robust.

Because it would've been larger as a GIF, and I didn't really give a **** if it looked good. All I wanted was a small file size.

I assume, by SMS you mean Short Messaging System for cell phones, not another ICQ-ish software
