Title: General outline for animation, opinions needed.

As the line below says it's about the attack on vasuda prime. But i want some feedback on things like the text in the intro part, kinda music etc. So no spamming i want serious reply's.

For the music i was thinking about something like Styxx used for his trailer. Dramatic but slow fits very well. this won't be a very much action packed animation but still it should be interesting.

So any sugestions? maby adding something to it to make it more interesting?

vasuda Prime animation: 24fps around 1.5min resolution 640*480.


Fade from black:

Text: It has been 32 years ago since the shivans decimated Vasuda Prime.

fade to black:

text: It has been 32 years ago that Shivans left.

Fade to black:

Probe:

Scrambled image from probe trying to powerup.

Probe: Powered up, and turning to the Lucifer jumping into the system with Dragon and Scorpion fighters. Image wil be scrambled the whole animation

Slowly following the Lucifer until it's in orbit of vasuda prime.

Then the camera turns to 2 fleeing transports escorted by 4 Horus fighters, 6 jumpoints open and they leave.

Then the probe turns back to the lucifer and zooming in on the side beam cannon that is powering up a big stream of energy is released.

Fade to black: 5 secs ( 125 frames )

Cut to planet surface:

Seeing the lucifers beam from orbit coming down on the desert ground making it inhabitable.
Several shockwaves can be seen shaking the camera. ( particle explosion for the beam impact )
beam color wil almost be the same as in the ani. also the white stream in the beam wil be seen.

fade to black:

Cut back to lucifer in orbit:

Seeing several shots to the surface to the planet as the probe zooms out and back away abit.

Then several fighters detect the probe and are on aproache to it on attack vector.
Several laser shots can be seen before the probe is destroyed.

fade to black:

text: It wil happen again, the only question is when.

Fade to black:


Music:?

Something needs to happen while you track the lucifer,

Because it will get major boring just watching it sail by, maybe just some fighter extra swooping about i dunno really.

Then again it depends how long that 'bit' lasts

Every bit wil lat around 20 seconds ( thats 500 frames ).

Only the black fading wil be each 5 seconds apart from each other.

yes your right some fighters moving around, attacking some left over vasudan fighters.

Those are gramatically correct, but still lack the dramatism and gravity needed for the situation IMHO.

true....I suck at that sort of things. I have been fidling around for hours for only 2/3 lines.

If you have something you think is better then please post it, i like to hear what it is.

Darkage! Dude, I like the sound of this already. :nod: Though I'm not big on video (I take too long... bah, ancient CPU!), I'd probably do a few rough storyboards about where ships are positioned in the frame, and where they end up - that's quite important. That, timing, and lighting - those are the major technical details I'd look up. Oh, and how the camera tracks movement - have the camera track an invisible object that is nearby the object, but not exactly on it. That'll make the camera angles appear much more fluid and less mechanical. :)

Thanks for the wonderfull reply! usefull stuff i love the idea about the camera tracking. I can use a null object for that great stuff!

Semi-still shot of a Typhon littered with fire and weapon-impacts, the attackers unseen

Speaking or TINY writing: Without motive. Without reason. Without remorse.........
Short shot of a Dragon fly-by, quickly fading out


Faint, quick-fading/merging shots of battles (ala B5's shots of the Earth-Minbari war) with incredibly quick shots of the Lucifer (kinda a ghost-in-the-darkness deal)
Speaking or TINY writing: The darkness brought peace with our old enemy as we rallied to face the new.

Shots of Terran-Vasudan meetings and fleets flying together

Speaking or TINY writing: Battles were fought and lost.
Shots of Terran and Vasudan ships marching into battle
Our fleets were crushed beneath their might. Station after station, colony after colony, world after world fell.
The same ships exploding or lying dead in space
Everyone and everything which stood in their path. Until......

Pause in blackness

Slow humming and subspace vortex forming, then run the ani at like 5x as the Lucifer jumps in

Quickly cut to black

Normal-speed shot as the Luci's beams power up, panning down to Vasuda as the Lucifer fires (all the while, Shivan fighters buzzing around the camera).
Thousands of transports and freighters shooting out of Vasuda Prime's atmosphere, smashing into Shivan weapons-fire.
Loads of radio-chatter of the massacre
This goes on for the bulk of the animation
Quickly cut to black

Back-shots of burning cities, dead vasudans, massive destroyers laying derelict in space
Speaking or TINY writing: And we were a beaten people. Without home. Without care for living. Without hope. But we would not be broken. We still had our pride and our honor, and soon we would have.........our revenge.

Fast-shot of a Typhon screaming head-on out of subspace, flanked by hundred of fighters, cruisers and bombers. Basically, the entire Vasudan fleets on a rampage.
Very-quick shots of Shivan ships being massacred, culminating in a slow-mo shot of the Lucifer's 'tail-spin-O-death' and it's massive explosion fading into blackness

Speaking or TINY writing: And, for the first time in 15 years, we found peace. And it endures. But the darkness lingers, sleeping in the depths of space until the day we must once more take arms and fight for our existence..........

Short pause in blackness

A shot of a Demon (who's relative size will need to have been shown in a previous scene with the Lucifer) becoming covered in an omnious shadow. Fade to black.

I'd say either vastly orchestral (which is probably beyond the abilities of anyone here) or Homeworld-ish.


And don't just render it. Add some color-filter effects, grain and low-level-lighting. Nice and.....what's the word? Gritty?

I know its a fave but use Agnus Dei (choral) or Adagio for Strings (orchestral).

If you dont want to be cliche there are many string orchestra peices which are stirring. Or maybe see if any of Frakes (sp?) bab 5 stuff fits?

But whatever you use its gotta be classical esque.

Thanks MC, i am downloading a bunch of them now.

anyway here is a quick render i made testing out my planet, Map, atmoshpere and clouds. I still need to make a proper desertmap for vasuda prime though.

Wouldnt the logo and incomming transmission bit be clear cos thats what would be on your screen and the feed would be the screwed up bit?

I was thinking of that, but it looked silly if i only distorded the feed.;)

I got the desertmap ready, now to make a bump map for the planet.

And make a good piece of planet surface and then we are ready to go and animate the start of this puppy:)

If you need for any reason a good-looking "Jupiter-minus-the-Great-Spot" gas giant Lunarcell preset, I have one. I'll attach it.

Hmmm... come to think of it, I think I'll post a new topic about it, too - just so nobody who might need it misses it. :)

a good track i just thought of is the requiem for a dream track Lux Arterna made famours by the Two Towers Trailer.

Another was O Fortuna, i beleive by Wagner, which has kinda 2 peeks init for the most important bits, vasuda getting smashed and the vasudan retribution, with nice build ups in between.
