Title: Vasuda Prime project a go.
Post by: Darkage on December 27, 2002, 02:33:58 pm
Here is a planet test i made. It looks desert enough to me and this is what i am gonna use;)

Download with "Save Target As" (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/inferno/darkage/planet_test.avi)

Resolution: 640*480
Size: 982KB
Codec: Divx 5.0.2
For the people that don't have the latest Divx codec go toDivx.com (http://www.divx.com)
So what do ya people think?

I am making the intro text atm so part 1 should be done tonight or tomorrow.;)

Below is that script that i am going to follow, an0n rewrote my script as it sucked. So thanks to an0n for the script.

Black-ness

Speaking or TINY writing: 14 years of death....
Flash of T-V battle

Black

Speaking or TINY writing: 14 years of blood....
Flash of Vasudan ship exploding

Black

Speaking or TINY writing: Never prepared us....

Long-Black

Speaking or TINY writing: Unlike the others. Faster, stronger and in force.
Semi-still shot of a Typhon littered with fire and weapon-impacts, the attackers unseen

Black

Speaking or TINY writing: Without motive. Without reason. Without remorse.........
Short shot of a Dragon fly-by, quickly fading out

Faint, quick-fading/merging shots of battles (ala B5's shots of the Earth-Minbari war) with incredibly quick shots of the Lucifer (kinda a ghost-in-the-darkness deal)
Speaking or TINY writing: The darkness brought peace with our old enemy as we rallied to face the new.

Shots of Terran-Vasudan meetings and fleets flying together

Speaking or TINY writing: Battles were fought and lost.
Shots of Terran and Vasudan ships marching into battle
Our fleets were crushed beneath their might. Station after station, colony after colony, world after world fell.
The same ships exploding or lying dead in space
Everyone and everything which stood in their path. Until......

Pause in blackness

Slow humming and subspace vortex forming, then run the ani at like 5x as the Lucifer jumps in

Quickly cut to black

Normal-speed shot as the Luci's beams power up, panning down to Vasuda as the Lucifer fires (all the while, Shivan fighters buzzing around the camera).
Thousands of transports and freighters shooting out of Vasuda Prime's atmosphere, smashing into Shivan weapons-fire.
Loads of radio-chatter of the massacre
This goes on for the bulk of the animation
Quickly cut to black

Back-shots of burning cities, dead vasudans, massive destroyers laying derelict in space
Speaking or TINY writing: And we were a beaten people. Without home. Without care for living. Without hope. But we would not be broken. We still had our pride and our honor, and soon we would have.........our revenge.

Fast-shot of a Typhon screaming head-on out of subspace, flanked by hundred of fighters, cruisers and bombers. Basically, the entire Vasudan fleets on a rampage.
Very-quick shots of Shivan ships being massacred, culminating in a slow-mo shot of the Lucifer's 'tail-spin-O-death' and it's massive explosion fading into blackness

Speaking or TINY writing: And, for the first time in 15 years, we found peace. And it endures. But the darkness lingers, sleeping in the depths of space until the day we must once more take arms and fight for our existence..........

Short pause in blackness

A shot of a Demon (who's relative size will need to have been shown in a previous scene with the Lucifer) becoming covered in an omnious shadow. Fade to black.

Vasuda need to be bigger, more sandy and less yellow, and be more blurry. It seems a little too crisp and well-defined. Oh and the lighting perspective is wrong. A lot more of the planet should be in darkness.

I am aware of that an0n, but like i said this is just a test anim for the map.;)

Fair enough.

*thinks about making an animation*
*remembers his computer explodes at about 6 polys*
*thinks about loading MAX4 onto the laptop*

But the animation is too short for such a beautiful render. :(

Over the........5 years that I've had it I've modified it to ****. Constantly over and under-clocking it for various reasons (fan explosions and such) and it's taken it's toll on the processor. Add to that the fact that, since an accident involving the floppy drive, I've only got 64mb RAM. It really is a wrecked, scared, war-torn piece of ****.

Then there's the dust. I have to hoover out the insides (this includes pulling apart the power thingamjig with the big "WARNING: Do Not Open Unless Qualified" sticker on it) to stop it over-heating and clogging up.

Then there's all the virii that're scattered across it from various hybrid-attempts gone awry that I'm too lazy to look for.

I REALLY need a new computer.

I also have a 2Ghz laptop with 512 RAM and a 40Gb hard-drive.

But me just remembered it runs XP, so no 'unorthodox' copies of MAX4 can be loaded onta it without some serious tinkering, and as you all know, I'm incredibly lazy.

But on the plus-side of my non-laptop computer, I got Ghosting and Path-display working in MAX. Very pwetty and useful. Shows where the model will be for X frames forwards and X frames back and has a nice little orange line showing it's path.

So you need an unorthodox copy of Max 5 instead ;)

indeed: you just need to d/l the new cdilla on discreet website ( which is not such a serious tinkering :doubt: )...

Yes, but updated Cdilla mean useless 'authorisation enablers'. At least I presume it would.

funny thing... my copy seems to give a WinXP equivalent of an illegal error at startup every time, but continues to load and behave normally, if I just ignore it. :wtf:
