Title: The Release Is Nigh : The Babylon Project
Post by: CptWhite on September 22, 2001, 04:33:00 pm
The Babylon Project is nearing its first release.  Rumours of 2 weeks are abound internally and this could be the case.  We are just finishing a few areas, but we are nearly ready for release.  It will support high res textures.

The Babylon Project is not going to be like any other mod released for freespace 2.  I believe it will be the most comprehensive mod for the game to date, and we plan to continue working on it indefinately for the time being, the team is strong and moral is high.

Heres a picture of the main hall :

The idea for the release is based around the launcher.   You first download the launcher which is about 3Mb from this you will be able to download updates, uninstall, arrange setup, customise the install level etc.  and it supports its own resume feature for all those worried about big downloads.  The launcher itself is a great piece of programming. The mod DOESNT interfer with anything you currently have installed, upon launcher it backs existing data up, and on closer replaces it and backs up data for the babylon project, so you can run 2 campaigns simultaniously.

I hope everyone here will give the mod a try as its been 2 years in the making so far, and we hope you will support us   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Anyway thats all for now   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

why does the left starfury has blue glows, and the right one yellow ones? lol
No, seriously, it's looking great   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
Could I borrow your main hall tbl?
From what I've heard, tech balance in the show was severely one sided. What about balance ingame? Will those minbari be really stronger than Terrans, and alpha one (once again) will make the difference, or did you change ships specs to make it a beat more fair?

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Seriously, looks wizard.

That main menu idea rocks (I never did care for the 'Hangar' scenes in any of the FS games).  That manager idea is top-notch...  Can't wait to see the release.

It's just that T-bolts had yellowish thruster glows, like that.

Didn't realise they were afterburners  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
