Yes, it's the demo for Neo-Terra Victorious, available for download at the NTV website! (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/ntv) Seven point two megabytes of compressed fun!
The year - 2366
The location - Polaris
Follow the tumultuous birth of the most significant threat to GTVA security since its foundation, as the Neo Terran Front begins its existence in the Polaris system. Join the rebellion on the NTD Cyrene, pledge your allegiance to Admiral Bosch, and take down the Galactic Terran Vasudan Alliance!
Some notes:
This is the demo for Neo-Terra Victorious. It's six missions long.
It's set at the beginning of the NTF Rebellion, casting you as a pilot in the newly-born NTF, stationed aboard the NTD Cyrene in Polaris.
Note that the final, main campaign will be set a few months before the original FS2 campaign (at the start of the NTF's big push in Deneb).
N.B. - NTV: Emergence is not simply the first six missions of the NTV campaign. Emergence is its own beast, an entirely independent minicampaign charting the birth of the rebellion, and is made up of entirely original missions, available only as a part of this minicamp.
Thanks to:
GalacticEmperor for helping out, making the Port, and being a great guy :)
Sesquipedalian for the l33t new FS1 weapon ANIs (as seen in Port 2.0)
Knight Templar, Grey Wolf, Sheepy, and Lobsterclaw for Beta Testing
And of course HLP and the HLP staff for hosting us. :D
Let's go kill some Zogs! (http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/3dactionplanet/hlp/hosted/ntv/ntv-emergence.zip)
KILL VASUDANS!

:thepimp:
Vasudans = sh1t :D
I tested it myself, so you know it's good.
Actually the best demo I've played so far.. 6 missions is pretty nice.
where'd I put that pic I was looking for..
-
Just for the record, I didn't actually make the weapon anis in this particular case. GE got a wee bit impatient (in a good way: it would have been another week or two until Port 2.0 was released otherwise), so I supplied the tools, templates and knowledge, and he made them himself. But you can credit me for all but actually putting them together. :D
And Vasudans = rockin'.

Downloading... now!
Can't wait...

Go on! I dare ya! :p

Cool.
Oh, wait!
* curses damn FS2 that won't work on my damn computer *
Crap.
-
BTW, if anyone has any feedback, particularly on the levels of difficulty of the missions, we'd love to hear it. Help us improve ourselves for the full campaign, yesyes :).
-
Think I may have found a bug.. The athena has no secondary weapons in the first mission..
Has anyone else had this problem
Please advise
(edit) I`m playing it on medium diffculty, but i`m not what you could call an ace, but i`ll keep trying:nod:
-
The Athena should have secondaries - they're pretty much neccesary to complete the mission in one piece.
Make sure you don't have any other ships.tbl or weapons.tbl files around that might interfere with them... other than that I'm not sure what could cause that.
-
Uuuh, there's something wrong with my FS mouse controls so unfortunately I can't play it. Sorry.
-
Yay! Downloading... :D
(psst...it's actually "zods" :nervous: )
-
Downloading now, although I have to wait until it gets dark to play... :p :D (can't see anything otherwise)
And Vasudans = rockin'.

Yeah, to reiterate on what BW said - make sure you have a clean data folder for this, or there will be conflicts and everything will get all messy. Check in FRED to make sure you have no mods loaded, then just plot the VP in your FS2 directory and you're ready.

 I would know, I spend the better part of yesterday night testing it for them.. but I had to reinstall to get rid of that and another table problem. Make you you not only check for clean ships tables, but also weapons.
-
One final note, we know mission three needs work - once you get through it, though, everything's smooth :) danke
-
*scolds Alikchi for not fixing it up before release*
He's right though, they get good after three. So play away!
-
well, we didn't have time to test it, and we didn't have any problems until just now, and, and --
*sob*
Upon checking, there's another bug in mission 5, but it doesn't stop the progress of the campaign.. just the mission.
Unfortunately, my CD-ROM drive is inoperable, so I can't fix these without the likelihood of me mangling it up even more. We'll have to wait for BW.
And finally, the RTB event in Mission 6 is inoperable :( Sorry guys. Just jump out after the Sopedu is dead.
We'll get a patch out ASAP as soon as BW gets here.

OR you could download FS2_open and use the command line.

I just finished mission 1 and here are my comments:
The first message of the Veritas shows a fighter pilot ani.
The Veritas and the friendly freighters should be on the escort list.
It is higly unlikely that the GTVA would send no escorts with the freighters, i recommend adding one wing, two fighters maybe.
FIrst CB stage should be longer, it is a bit short to be made a seperate CB.
Everything is top-notch. I dig.

Wierll fix. :)

Will also fix. :)

There's already a 2-fighter Myrmidon escort for the second group, nothing for the first group. You mean the first group?

We'll write some more fluff. :)
We'll release a patch/updated version the same time tonight. Read: About 2 am central :shaking:

Second mission finished.
If this is supposed to take place before FS2, why is the Iceni there. It was completed in the second mission of FS2, remember.
Oh yes, in FS2 NTF missions, the Icenis briefing icon is a Destroyer.
Otherwise, excellent mission, but that awful, awful plot hole

That's what I said, but aparently it was done earlier.. ALikchi will tell you.
As for the Icon, I think that was done purposefully too make the campaign better :doubt:

yes, I just like being canon

Black Wolf, as you advised I have moved all table entries to a temp folder... Have mods installed :D
That done the trick... Thanks for your help.. Goes to kick some butt ;7 :D

From The Icenis Tech Description
The Iceni is the NTF command frigate, built under Admiral Bosch's direction at the Freedom shipyards in Polaris, captured by the Neo-Terran Front at the start of their rebellion. With over two dozen turrets and a sheath of ultra-dense depleted uranium shielding around its subsystems, the Iceni is an extremely tough nut to crack. With Bosch on board, providing tactical guidance, the Iceni is the equal of any GTVA battle group. Intelligence believes the ship was custom-designed for a secret NTF project.
And that's the FS2 Canon one, not the NTV one. Bosch waited for the Iceni to be built, rebelled, stole the Iceni, moved into Deneb and rushed the building of the Boadicea around it.
See, no plot holes :)
Alikchi - PM me what needs fixing and we can release some sort of 1.1 version :)
Oh and Whitelight, no worries. Good Luck :D
-
Thanks
-
Black Wolf - you made an Iceni icon for mission briefings once before. How come you aren't using that?
-
:wtf:
Goob, play the missions, he did/is.

I took that to mean that the Iceni didn't have an Iceni icon. I haven't played yet -- first I didn't have time, but now I'm waiting for version 1.1. :)

in mission 5, Cancer wing arrives and immediately leaves

That is intended

oohh...it got stickyfied!
-
Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier... :) Thread stickified!
-
:D
And I got a new CD-ROM drive. I'm loading FRED as we speak..Version 1.1 should be out within 4 hours max.
-
Er. Scratch that. I have to get up at 9 tomorrow, so sleepy time comes pretty close to now for me.
So, here are the bugfixes:
Mission 1: Veritas and Cyrene on escort list. First message of Veritas shows a fighter pilot ANI. Add more to the Command Briefing?
Mission 2: No problems I could find.
Mission 3: When I played, the Iceni got stuck on the installation and didn't fire beams. The Geb killled it. So we need to space them out more. Also, when the Iceni IS killed, it allows you to continue to the next mission. That's not good.
Mission 4: I didn't see any.
Mission 5: Cancer wing (the Hori) do the crazy jump in/out thing and the next wings don't show up, which stops the mission from playing out. :( Need to retune that again.
Mission 6: Return to Base event inoperable.
We'll patch it ASAP. If BW doesn't finish doing it, he'll mail me the missions and I'll fix the rest. Give us about 10 hours max.
-
All right! I'm done. All the errors above are fixed, plus some others that I caught while playing through (little things, like GTF Hercules -> NTF Hercules). It's in the attachment.
Extract to FS2/Data/Missions. They should overwrite the ones in the VP.
-
I have one complaint so far. In the first mission, it's effectively impossible to complete the secondary objective. The Veritas always nukes the Nile as soon as it arrives, preventing you from capturing the cargo. And it's impossible to take out the Veritas's main beam without getting slaughtered by all the fighter beams. The wingmen, of course, are of no help. I replayed the mission over and over again for more than two hours before I got so ticked off that I turned off the Veritas's beam-free-all sexp.
This needs to be fixed. Beam-protect the Nile or something.

Good work. :) Updated the thread title for you.

Wow, just for a secondary goal? I can fix it if you like (I noticed it earlier but declined to, assuming that it was just a fluke), but I'm not sure these people would like downloading another version. :doubt:
Only 8 people have downloaded the patch. I'm dissapointed. :blah:
-
Well, that's okay - I turned off beam-free-all and got past it. The rest of the campaign was great. :) I noticed a couple of other bugs, such as XSTR(" being shown in one of the briefings, and a bunch of misspellings, but nothing show-stopping.
Good work.
EDIT: Oh wait. In the mission where you have to inspect everything, you can order all the "enemy" wings to leave at the beginning of the mission. ;)

I experimented a bit with this when I made the mission, but I thought it was more realistic to have the nile die, so I made the goal a secondary one and left it at that. Looking at it again, a more dramatic exit for the nile (Multiple hull breaches, we're losing atmosphere, We're going down! or whatever) might have been a little better, but as Alikchi said, yet another version is bad for business :).
As a general rulke, when I play this mission, I rarely even get up to that point, as my wingmen tend to kill the Freigfht while they're attacking the first freighter...:doubt:.
-
How hard are you flying on? I only lost the freight twice? :D

good way to avoid that while Fredding: When placing ships, place random Shivan fighters/bombers, then change them through the ships editor. Saves you from disabling all orders.

Insane! Don't ever play it on anything else! :D
-
I always fly on medium when testing and making campaigns.. as it is a fine medium between skill levels ;)
-
I went to the site and both times got delays (looking at bottom of screen noticed it said.wav in the loading bar but heard nothing)
Third time got file planet up. Will try to let you know l8tr what I thought as I am cramming all my time into downloading before I go off the net for a month or two...
-
Ignore the wav bit..there used to be wavs embedded, then I realized what a stupid idea it was.
