download from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.asp .
Well, source code folks, time to start another project, ayeh?
-
Wow! Cool! :)

Old news. That has been there for a while.
Also, there's not much point downloading it, unless you have Radeon 9500/9700 series video card. And if you want to watch the ATI DX9 demos (maybe some user-made demos too). Nothing else supports DX9, and no games support it either, yet.

Oh my this could be interesting!

Wake me up when DX9.1a is released.
-
Some sources have stated that this official download is actually public beta. Many have had problems after installing DX9.
For me DX9 works great. :)

And that is why? What new nice features that will be used in real programs after 2 years after it's release it'll have?

I think this is the final version, but there was a beta on the site before this.

My DX9 works flawlessly, so far. :)
-
<-- Has DX9
No complaints from me
-
´i just wont download untill something actually needs it :)

I'm not sure if this even installed correctly. It gave a hundred or so error messages during the restart sequence that "Windows could not upgrade the file %1 to %2." There is no noticeable difference from 8.1a, but at least everything works correctly as before.

That happened to me before in Windows 9x systems upgrading to 7/8.0, so its not a dx9 problem. :nervous:

works like a charm.

Has any of you noticed any differences? Like more speed or something?

Because if you value your sanity, you never install the *.0 version of ANY Microsoft product. Is there anybody left that doesn't know this?

Was there even DX 7.1, 6.1 and 5.1? Could be, but I haven't noticed... :doubt:

Yep, my 3DMark score (on R8500) went down a little bit... :blah:
Subjectively speaking, it seems to perform pretty much the same as DX8.1 did in actual games (some ppl have even reported enhanced/smoother gameplay, even though their scores went down as well..)
Oh well, at least it seems stable.

I contemplated the download. Then realised it added up to 32MB worth of M$ goodness. I finished my contemplation with a click of the X button.

Damn this constant march of technology! We paupers can't keep up.
