The CEO of Titus has revealed the French publisher's intention to sell Interplay.
Financially troubled publisher Titus has revealed plans to sell Interplay, which it took over in August 2001. Interplay's Shiny studio was sold to Infogrames early last year for $47 million, a figure largely based on the fact that Shiny is developing Enter the Matrix. While Infogrames doesn't have many current hit franchises to lean on besides Baldur's Gate, Titus doesn't plan to let Interplay go in a fire sale. In the French business newspaper Les Echos, Titus CEO Hervé Caen recently said, "Our priority is to sell Interplay for a good return."
Interplay has produced many classic games over the years, but it has had fewer major releases of late. Its biggest recent game is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, which shipped for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. There's also an upcoming PC role-playing game, Lionheart, in development at Reflexive Entertainment, and it's due out this spring. Vivendi Universal currently handles the distribution of all Interplay products.

Titus owned Interplay for only four months and already this (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2907938,00.html) happens.
C'mon THQ. Buy 'em!

Shoot. Didn't see that thread. Oh well, I can't delete this one.
Now that's another thing I want to talk about....
-
I've got some spare cash lying around, how much is Interplay actually worth?
30 bucks?
-
Now... say Interplay cost, oh, $1,500,000 at the time of first sale. Surely, it must depreciate significantly (in the hundreds of thousands) every time it's sold- particularly if the companies keep some licenses and staff. So, we wait about three more sales, set up the HLP funds, get rights not only to FS3 but Fallout 3. Build an army of game addicts with the lure of the two combined, train them for combat with FPSes and cheap strats, take over the world. Get the best proggers and graphics guys in the world to make them for us, and then leave me in charge. Everyone's happy!:D
-
Count me in
*pitches in $13.78*
