Does anyone know of a free and good software to edit voice files? (except Goldwave?)

I have a bunch of voice files recorded at 44100 that need to be in 11... (Whatever) for fs2 but the speech gets distorted when I convert using goldwave or creative wave. :sigh:

nothing's free today...Goldwave is one of my best...try SoundForge (demo version)

Try wavesurfer. (http://www.speech.kth.se/wavesurfer/download.html)

It is almost as good as Goldwave or Soundforge. And it's free.
