I can't believe it. I put fs2 away about 8 months ago...and I just reinstalled it....again.
Is there no game that compares to this one? It's just plain weird...I love this game. The writing is ok...but hardly great, the graphics, compartively, are ok, but hardly great...etc etc. I can't explain it...I'm not even a SIM player!!! I mostly play crpgs!
What's really twisting my guts is that I've yet to find a copy of FS1 anywhere and I pretty much think my chances of finding it are pretty much nil. I'd like to play all of it back to back! I don't care how old it is!
BTW, since having reinstalled the game I forgot how to do the registry tweak...don't spank me. :eek: Here's the problem. I did a search and found that the game spy links are all dead. I did find one other..but I'm not quite sure what it's telling me to do. There was a step by step around here somewhere I was sure...but I can't find it. Essentially, what it says on whatever descent page it was, doesn't match what I saw when I opened up the registry...Frankly, its the only time I've ever used regedit.

I'd fire the welcome beam at you, but if you have an avatar, you must have gotten your post count reset or something. :)
Anyway, on your post - yes, FS is very cool. :nod: And Interplay has FS1 for sale on their company page, for $10.
Someone should be along shortly to help you with the registry thing. ;)

hmmm ...I know that I was a latecomer to this board...and that I wasn't the most active poster....but unless I was here in a past life or somebody else's body...:confused:
Anyhoo, I had volunteered to help out on Inferno but things at home got way squirrly and I pretty much dropped away...(sorry guys)...
Hoping to get into it again whenever I think about all the wonderful FRED possibilities....sigh.

Ok...here it is. I just jumped over to interplay and the interplay store...I know I shouldn't be surprized...but FS1 and ST are no longer available. Can't buy it. Someone tell me I'm wrong but I found the game description at interplay and a link to the store to by it for 9.95 and there's nothing. Did a search at the interplay store...still nothing.
Thanks for the point to the port...I've started playing it...it's pretty good... but just not the same without the sound files and cut scenes (at least I'm assuming there's cutscenes...)
Anyway, thanks k for the pointer, tweaked the registry. Much obliged.

Yes, your'e sick. There's lots of games that compare (and favorably) to this one.
There are a few even, that overshadow it. ;)
