DivX and XviD are the most common, I think.

DivX is the most widely used compressor for large movie files, Xvid is a public source, so has some flaws, for slow processor power, and DVDs MPEG codec is used.

He means compression programs, I believe. You can compress it right on your rendering program if you have a working codec (I, for example, don't), and- I THINK- there's a DivX compressor prog at divx.com.
