Techroom breif: Due to the GTVA's ageing Fenris and lethernan class star ships, the MOD inisiated a scheme to modernise the ageing fleet. They acheved this by choping out the main hull section and replacing it with a modern one made from the new "cheramic-molbium" alloy. Incorparated in to the hull is an impresave armourant of weaponary"
Weapons:
3 Tetron Anti-matter beams (anti-fighter beams)
4 Apocolapse cannons (long range Artillery)
4 Starburst (Long Range High explosave Flack)
1 Mor-ray Suppressor (Fires a rapid susecion of missiles with the "electronics" tag enabled)
1 DESA Light Gravity Cannon (LGC)

hmmm... a Fenris modification that's not a complete remake, eh? Nice...
Needs a better viewing angle, though.

Primary Roal: Recognisance and Escort Duties
Tec room brief: Due to the GTVA's ageing Fenris and lethernan class star ships, the "GTVA Security Council", initiated a scheme to modernise the ageing fleet. They achieved this by chopping out the main hull section and replacing it with a modern one made from the new "cheramic-molbium" alloy. The hull is only about 25% bigger but that is enough to incorporate technologies like AWACS, and a smart beam targeting system. The SMBS Locks on to the enemies ship much like Aspect and Heat seeking missiles do on fighters, making the “Intrepid” class star ship a formidable foe to any opposition.
Weapons:

I like it... I always knew the fenris and leviathan were missing something, but I still liked them. This seems to fill in the gaps. Good work... brush up on the skins a bit though. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Not sure I like the "wings", but other than that it looks great. I like the "beefed-up" superstructure around the middle and the skin looks fantastic.

I love the refits, keep em coming FOZZY!! Great work!!
How bout say a dozen or so different refit types from science to freighter for use the in the future, theyd be a great addition for civillian fleets in Venoms NEO GTA campaign!! Its very reminiscent of the MIRANDA class starship from STartrek, the one ship they just cant decommision! after 3 major and dozens of minor refits its still out!

To put it bluntly, I don't like the wings, and the skin is oddly colored. (rust in space?) Aside from that, it's a very good job. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Though I hate to agree with people, wings just look wrong on capships. Look at the Hecate if you want an example- a bloated, malformed bat with elephantiasis. The bottom thing looks cool, and it's also nice because that seems to be a signature of the FS2 Terran ships, they just Herced everything- Herc IIs, Arcadias, Hecate, etc., etc.
I like rust on spaceships, tho. Makes 'em look... rustier (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
So... Good work on everything but the [shudder] wings.

And BTW: Shrike, even in space, oxidation is possible. Maybe the ship flew through a water-based nebula, or maybe it came in contact with some of those nasty caustic compounds, which might be all over the place in space, as far as we know.

Every last ship? Yeah, right. I dunno about space where you live, but space out here is a pretty damn good vaccum. Rusting and stuff might be believable on a dropship, but not a ship that stays in space. Plus, rust like that is a symptom of bad maintenance... since when did you see an active naval vessel covered in rust?

SOE-DESA. Special Opperations Excecutave - Deep Space Exploration Armada (i swaped the S and the E around so it is easy to pronounce. DEE-ZA)
Time for an explanation:
the rust effect is the result of moveing through an "sulphuric acid" lased nebular (perfectuly phesable in space, because it is so easy to make)deep in space, where the SOE-DESA and there ship yards are based
heres some Weapons that I am working on for my SOE-DESA campaign:
Trident = Temest variant (looks simular to the FS1 fury) with the electronics flag enabled.
MDC = Mass driver cannon, this uses a bullet pof file in the primary section. it has $TAG: enabled aswell, the story is that it temperarly changes the frequency of the shields so that they can be detected by standard detection arrays.(I actualy got this working, i just need to ballence it out and make a customised pof file.)
I am also thinking about makeing a primary weapon with the emp tag enabled.
I just had an idea for a new missile weapon, a TAG and ELECTRONICS weapon. activly dissables and Tags fighters and bombers so capital ships can destroy them with ease.

I'd clean up the textures a little bit since they look pretty stretched but that might just be the render.
Also, on the front of the middle section of the ship, it seems that it's UV map is a little crooked as it looks in the render.
My last suggestion is to make those wings have some function. The missile turret at the bottom of the old Fenris. I'd make a larger bottom missile turret for a torpedo bank, and at the tips of the wings a top and bottom missile turret per side.
Why make it a new class? The Leviathan is supposidly a refit but it's not even a reskin, say it's the Leviathan! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

These beams are mounted on the "Arms", so I can have Huge Glows with out upseting the look of the ship.
