Meh. I'll just have to change my incoming proxy rules to rewrite the banner link to what it used to be before Shrike decided to break it whilst "fixing it".

I still don't see why people use it... the navigation bar provides better navigation, to all layers, not just the root.

I don't understand why people still use Macintoshes or 3dsMax or Microsoft software, but they do.

Look at it from a user interface point of view: it was the way it was for ages. People knew that clicking on the banner took you to the forum root. Suddenly, its different and its damned annoying. Sure, the link right beneath it takes you to the same place. Fine. Okay, the other links take you to other places. Excellent. You know what? That's completely, utterly, totally beside the point. Hrm. I thought I made "hunch" pretty clear. If not, I've added emphasis, and hopefully, its clear now.

You could always, I dunno, examine some facts:
1) people weren't complaining before
2) people are complaining now

I don't think we need a poll to see that something may have triggered these users' ire. could it be the change that the complainants are talking about? I think so. Sure, there's not numerical analysis going on here, but there is a small tidbit of logic.

People complain whenever anything changes around here, even if it's ultimately to their benefit.

I'm sure things will change when we upgrade to vB3.  People complained when we went from UBB to vB.  If there was a real valid backing to the complaint, sure.  But there's a handy link right underneath.

Well, on that point I do agree with him; I will admit that I viewed the UBB->vB move with some trepidation, but now that I have gotten used to it and have explored its new features, I can see that this is indeed quite superior.  As for this particular issue I do not really know which is better, but is it really that much of a problem? This is the third or fourth thread I have seen in the last week complaining about this, and until I read one of those I didn't notice the change at all... :p

yeah. going to the bottom of the page and click the "Hard Light Productions" link is just too much of a hassle to do. yep.

I actualy like this way a lot more, it makes no sence to have a link to the root in the image and have a bunch other other links directly below it (specificly one to the same place),
now if only you could make each subforum's logo thing go to there hosted site,
if the logo gets changed to be the forum root, then I will be annoyed :nod:

i liked the picture that you click on takes you to the main forum index myself personally... and really, it makes sense

if you click on a picture that says :

"HARD LIGHT PRODUCTIONS FORUMS"

shouldn't it take you to:

"HARD LIGHT PRODUCTIONS FORUMS"

Guys for the love of god stop moaning!

I mean do you really click that image that much? I truly doubt it. You're making a big thing out of a minor little detail that can be easily worked around by clicking "Hard Light Productions Forums" on the link just below the image instead of the image itself.

In short, the change doesn't have to affect anyone in any way. Stop creating such a huge issue out of it.
