Another new one from me, the GTC Hyperion. It's larger than the standard cruiser, and draws main weapon power directly from its engines (thus the parallel tubes along the hull). It's stronger and more heavily armored than a conventional cruiser as well. I should note, before someone points out the similarity, that it is based on the Tiadan destroyer from Homeworld.

Designs OK - maybe rounding off that front curve a little would look good - Personally, though I've never really been a fan of all light grey ships ...
Just MHO.

*loves ship*
but you knew that already.
-
Yeah, some texture variation would be good, but overall I like the design. Reminds me of Dark's Phobos.

Not nearly that big or overpowered I'm afraid. This ship fits between the cruiser and corvette classes, sort of a heavy cruiser used primarily for anti-fighter duties. And if anyone knows of some good non-grey textures, please let me know (other than the Hecate textures, I really don't like them)
-
Good texturing.
A very nice model !
Texture variation: similar to the Aeolus or Deimos, no problems with that.
Weapons: The Rakshasa was superior to all Terran cruisers, so some balancing power is always welcome.

HomeWorld ships rock
-
Nice ship. :)
BTW, it's Taiidan.
-
D'oh! I should know that :nervous: Oh well, I haven't played Homeworld in maybe a year and a half, and that model was just based off of a screen shot.

No, its Tie-Dye, and Cushion.

Awesome design and work. Love the minimalist miltary texture application....it looks great to me!
-
Nice, but apart from the dorsal, ventral and large prow weapons, it's hard to see where the other weapons are.
Try using some of the Terran AWACS tiles as well.
BTW, when (are) you releasing this?
-
Cruiser? This should be a corvette! Looks damn cool!

See: Terran Lilith :D

It's a cruiser, so it's not too terribly well armed. I may darken the edges of those dot turrets to make them stand out a little, but they are basically under the nameplate, on the side-mounted engine in the back, and on the lower "wing". There is also one turret to cover the aft quadrant just behind the bridge and another under the lip in the nose, all for anti-fighter and anti-bomb.
It'll be released when it's reconverted (made a couple of small texture changes including that nameplate) and pathing's done. And it does have some AWACs textures, just not many of them. Look at my other ships; there's plenty of AWACs tiles to go around there.

Very Nice. :D

Aww man, this is the sort of thing that makes me wish I were still rendering. ;)
I love it, the design is functional and attractive (hey, that's important ;)). Excellent work!:yes:

when the will is there, there's always ways ;)

Yeah... ;) This year's meant to count big for the rest of my life, though, so I really gotta get my head down to the studies. I'll post about it shortly. :)

Having just come through year twelve I can tell you that a lot of it is scaremongering - it's hard, but not impossible, nor do you need to study every spare second of the day. I maintained most of my net and FS2 time from year 11 and a fairly decent mark all year (except for exam time of course).
In short - don't go!!!!!
;)
-
Well I'm in year 11 now, and am an active member of the board. I recently had the mocks, in which I did well. (did you know that the pass mark for higher tier GCSE maths is only 20%?!?, this means that if you get full marks in course work, you can fail the exam and still get a C!)

Aww damnit..
Are you still on winter vacation?
-
Hee hee hee - We've been having bush fires and droughts, over this side we've just broken a spell of 40 + days (degrees C).
Different hemisphere :p
Petrarch - where are you exactly?
-
Back to topic: LOVE the ship, can't wait to get my hands on it.
BTW, are the other things you've posted recently going to be released?
-
That's right, summer holidays. Wouldn't have it any other way though, I love having such warm winters. ;)
But sorry BW, you're missing a couple of vital factors which keep me from staying.
Firstly, the reason I originally left still exists: my mother is still seriously ill. I am the closest thing she has to a full-time caretaker - I am away at school for between seven and eight hours each weekday, and almost all my other time is spent awake, ensuring that if she needs to be taken to hospital, I can make it so. Sleep is a precious commodity which I hardly get these days - three or four hours on a good weekday, four or five on a good weekend.
Secondly, if I do stay, I will be committed to a great deal more work than any of you ordinary HLPers - if I stay, I stay as project leader. If not officially, then effectively. I cannot stay here and not provide any help here to projects or people who need my services - that is and has always been my main role here. I might as well not be here if I don't fulfil that position. And if I do fulfill it... well, the reality is that the rest of my life will go down the drain, and my physical health will probably suffer (sleep deprivation is an effective torture method, I've discovered).
Thirdly, I genuinely need to place that degree of work into this year. I won't explain to you the mechanics of it, but I need to be a source of income for my family as soon as possible - which I can do if I receive a co-op scholarship and get an allowance from my sponsor. And it goes beyond that, too.
As you can see, there are just a few extraordinary circumstances that put it out of my reach. :(
-
Understood man - it's not something to be happy about, but it's something we all understand. Good Luck.

He wants to know where to taret the ICBM :D

In that case... Number 10, Downing Street.:D

StratComm, that's another nice-looking ship. But what happened to you releasing that canon-looking Vasudan destroyer? Good Vasudan mods are in short supply. :(

It's coming; the Hyperion just used ready-made turrets, where as that Vasudan ship had to have new ones made, so there was a little more time involved in getting it finished. Plus, I still need to do debris on both and LODs on that destroyer. I'll try to get a big release ready soon.
-
Awesome! That civilian space station coming in it too?
-
Yeah, the civ station, that Vas destroyer, the Hyperion, my terran Knossos, and something else which escapes me right now. I'll have a look through my ships list and see if anything else stands out. But I'm not releasing anything before it's done, and currently all of those need work. Also to be released is the glow maps to accompany those models (those that aren't standard), should that code be finalized soon for official SCP release 3.5. Glow maps for the Archangel (main beam) and Phoenix carrier (front beams and hanger lighting) will be included as well, something that was BADLY needed in those models on initial release. It won't hurt not to use them, but they will all be released just the same.
EDIT: Oh yeah, I remember. The construction/drydock station for the Archangel will be in there too.
