Title: Warcraft III Exp
Post by: Knight Templar on January 22, 2003, 10:13:54 pm
yay! Most probably seen it, but whataya gonna do?

The Frozen Throne  (http://www.gamespy.com/interviews/january03/war3tft/)   kinda weak title.. meh

anyways.. Makes you wonder, like why, unless they are going to make the Evles into something liek the demon red orcs, change them from High Elves to Bloodevles, guess they are out for blood now. Kool either way with me.

Still sad they don't have naval units in the game :( That was one of the cooler things about WC2 I thought.

WC- the acronym you've trusted to store your crap since the early 1700s.

... mainly in england no?

other than that the W3C is the thing you depend on for your internet enjoyment.... (okay, fine not quite the same as WC....)

so your post is supposed to draw negativity toward Blizzard/Warcraft? I thought this was a relatively positive discussion...

I dunno, it got kinda kicked off topic when Stryke made me think I was talking about wing commander..

Hmm to get if remotely back on topic...

I still think it was a sorta bad decision for an RTS to be aimed at single player battle rather than Multiplayer. It's a strategy game, AIs aren't very strategical (usually) and SP encounters are usually too limited to be highly interesting.

RPG is probably a much better format for Blizzard's goal. (I think the RTS portion was simply to draw WC/RTS fans rather than for the interest of the game's content itself.)

Yet another crap repository, last I checked. Though I hear Privateer was fun.

Some of WC is interesting, though much of it seems cheesy.... as do most games with cutscenes using "real" actors

Are any actors ever real?

It's an MS product. That's almost enough to turn me off to it right there. I mean, hell- how do you manage to copy MacOS, and then make it WORSE???

*remembers nightmares of Wing Commander movie*

As for War Craft, I do think it'd make a great RPG, and that's why they are making Worlds of Warcraft, right? ... Now if they'd only put naval fleets back in the game :mad2:

Now that I think about it.. the thing I don't liek is that they are kinda trying to draw their story to a close it seems.. and it's making it a lot less "epic." I dunno.. it just doesn't seem as big a fight or as different a world as it did in Warcraft I , now with all the Scourge, and killing Archimonde and everything..

hmmm

WC - Origin - EA - MS?

I think the last part doesn't work

Ah yes, but I'm saying that the aim with WC3 would have been better with an RPG rather than RTS. A mid-way compromise seems untidy.

and that movie was...... *rips hair out*

at this pace I shall be bald eventually considering the number of bad movies

Wasn't it MS? Something called "Wing Commander" was, I had it on my computer for a while, and it didn't work.

Hmmm I think Starlancer was published by MS, and starlancer was related to wing commander in that one of the designers were the same or something.... some Roberts guy (Chris Roberts?)

That's the only MS relation I can think of... oh and Starlancer was helluva buggy as I've heard the thing could make itself unplayable halfway into the game or something.

So long as SC2 is somewhere still on the drawing board, I refrain. :p

I liked the name the Frozen Throne...it brings instantly to my colorful imagination the image of a ornate and twisted demonic looking structure with skulls that breath frost from them.  Sweet!

I'm looking forward to this...WarCraft III is a great game, great support, and a great concept.  I hope that the expansion pack bests Brood War among the best of expansion packs created.

I've got a nagging question about the WarCraft storyline...what in the heck happened to Azeroth.  I know thats the worlds name, but the army of Azeroth was the first to fight the Orcs.  And they joined forces with Lordaeron in War2.  They seem to be a non-player in War3 which leads me to believe that they were truly destroyed...which isn't what I thought.

Anyone up on the story?

uh.. wasn't Azeroth in WC3? The area around where the Orc prison encampment is IIRC is azeroth.

In the backstory in the manual it's mentioned that Azeroth has a new king (I'd have to look up the name) Azeroth may play a role in The Frozen Throne, but will definately have one in World of Warcraft.

I think this expansion set mainly exists to tie up any loose ends to have the game world ready for WoW.

it's explained well in the manual of WC2:
Azeroth is a country at the south of lordaeron, and most powerful human kingdom. In WC1, the orcs kill Azeroth king ( king Llane ) and invade Azeroth. yeah, the orcs are the winners in WC1 ( cool :D ). anyway, in WC2 and BtDP, the humans wins. In WC3, it's much more clear :) ( still have to beat the last mission, btw :doubt: )

All right.... background on Azeroth

WC1: Orcs enter from Dark Portal. Ravage Azeroth and kill King Llane.

WC2: Azeroth survivors ally with Lordaeron Alliance. Orcs pushed out of Azeroth, D.P destroyed.

WC2EXP: Orcs make a second run, pushed back. Draenor (orcish homeworld) ripped apart by new portal energies.

WC3: Orcs in internment camps. King Wrynn reestablishes Azeroth as a military power.

I don't know why Azeroth wasn't included in WC3.

Ok...so Azeroth is still a force then...I wasn't sure if the kingdom had been shattered or what.

I did play War1 through but that was a long time ago and so wars War2.  War3 had a fantastic story tho...so I guess missing out on Azeroth isn't too bad.  Maybe Jaina and the Blood Elves will link up or at least mention Azeroth.

Maybe they will go back to Azeroth to confront Prince Arthas?
Title: Warcraft III Exp

nah, check the extpansion pack page. Arthas and that night elf assassin goes to the north to the so called frozen throne, where they expect to find good old friend Ner Zhul :p
Btw, Arthas is the new king of Lordaeron and turns the country into an undead wasteland. Jayna stays on the Tauren/night elves country, as does Thrall.

I thought Arthas was pretty cool. Turning all evil and killing Lordaeron was new and sick.

I wanna see all the old hero's who are still alive come in on their navy and kill arthas and his undead goons. With Elven Rangers ;7
