Hi there. After a long sleep from the Serious Sam community, i have recently returned to it. Some friendly guy by the name of Sandwich (i'm sure you know him) messaged me to let me know of this place.

Im a musician/composer and im eager to get my music and sound effects in as many modifictions and tc's as i can.

My aim is to produce a big show-reel that i can use to "impress" game companies with, thus landin me my dream job :cool:

This is where teams like you come in :)

If you need music for your modifications and tc's, then im your man. I have some examples (kindly linked by our very own Susan Signature!) so feel free to check them out.

I cover a lot of genres, and im VERY experimental. So dont think that i cant handle what you want, just try me! Its free!!

Im also an excellent writer, and i dabble in level design, so if you need anything to do with those, look me up too.

The stuff i have online at the moment, is all mainly atmospheric ambient stuff, and there are some piano stuff ive done too. I have a lot of stuff that would suit games, especially where you need an atmopshere to draw the player in.

(There are some bad ones, you have to realise not everyone will love your stuff, im generally pretty good at pleasing the mass though)

Its a win win situation for both of us. You get music for a mod, i get the credit for my music which will help me get some more commercial contracts.

my brothers the real musician in my family, he's a session drummer although he's very good live as well.

Personally I dont do very well in front of crowds (karaoke and stuff...) and im happier producing i suppose.

Although im a 3D Animator by trade (eventually)

Cool. Well, i just left college. Ive played in bands, but to be honest, im not much of a band-person ... i cant stand playing in them. There are bands i really dig, Rage Against The Machine and Tool for example, but when it comes to playing with guitarists and drummers.. ugh.. no thanks :)

So i left college and i start work monday, so that will afford me studio stuff. Im pretty much going for broke. Im just gonna compose as much as i can and pester the games industry till they let me in :D

well, my course is...uhh...crap, to tell the truth.

I dont like character animation but it soaks up so much of my time I cant do many spaceships anymore :(

I gave the 3d modelling thing a go once.. couldnt get on with it.

I used to map quite a lot for Quake, then Half-Life, then it was Unreal, then it was Serious Sam. But i was never really any good. Get one good idea, but nothing else to go in the map except that one idea... so you'd screw the map off :D

Welcome to the Hard Light Productions BB. There are dors to the front, rear and left, but these are not exits, only entrys. Any attempt to leave will see you vaporized by the Mk VI Superduper class laser beams. You might want to try the skylight. We're mostly a benign bunch, except for the shivans that are around the place. Make sure you stock up on sandwhiches to feed them in case of attack.

Under your seat there may be a flamethrower, but chances are it's been stolen and sold on the black market. The Plasma rifles in the forward cupboards are dispensed only by Admis, V Gods of Hyperintelligent shades of the colour blue. Sorry.That ICBM up the front probably won't be much good either, as we sold all the plutonium to Iraq.,

I'd like to suggest that if you mess about and create a couple of battle tracks, just put them for download. If they're good enough they'll appear in MODs all over the place. :)

Y'know, you can use CDex to convert between MP3 and WAV files.  You lose a bit of quality, but it lets you keep the downloads from 50+ megs to around 8-15 megs per track (very big difference).  Even an MP3 encoded at a very high bitrate is smaller than the equivalent wav file, and the quality drop when converted is barely noticeable.

And maybe we can con those SCP peeps into hacking in MP3 support...:drevil:

OK, this is cool. Welcome to the community. The music's not bad, either; a bit stretched for my tastes, too lengthy with too little content, but you have the potential.

Derailments aside, do you know the innermost workings of the music.tbl? If you can compose the stuff and actually string it together in a dynamic soundtrack, you've got it made. :)

It does interest me and ive replied.

Nope, ive not played FS2 yet, and i wont play it for another month (when i get paid, i found somewhere i can buy both of the Freespace games from!)

So basically to all those who im working for, the next month is the ideas stage. Nothing will be set in stone until i can get a feel for the game and how it works.

Just to let those people know, all the copyrights on the music will remain mine and naturally i'd like credit in the mod for the music.

Im pretty much good to go, ive started working on some stuff for one of the mods (after talking with a member about what they want) The rest of you who have emailed me or private messaged me, i've replied to.

You all should contact me on MSN messenger, email me if that poses a problem.

I'll PM you when you have the games, you need to know FS musics first before I tell you what I'd like. I have a friend working on musics already, but he's kindda busy, and wouldn't be able to do all I need. btw, can you make sound effects?

Depends what sound effects you want.

And ive heard the music from the game (i downloaded some) but i want to get a feel for what the gameplay is like before me and the teams involved commit to specific songs thats all im saying... i'll be sending files all over the place till i get the game.... then it'll turn into a more aimed approach..

for sound effects, weapons effects mostly ( I really need only one done, mechanical sound that would go: railgun firing, and another shell being placed in the gun -mechanical sound, if you get the idea )

hey thanks :) if you want details, ott is using a very gloomy mood, so same kind of musics as FS2, but darker.
but don't feel like you have to, for now nothing's in a hurry for now. You'd better focus on those who really need it for now I suppose.

Since my e-mail is acting screwy. I'll reply here to the last mail. Having ICQ/Trillian would make things much easier to chat over as everyone else working on this is using this form of communication as opposed to MSN.

Anyways, if necessary, I can attempt to E-Mail over the files or upload them to an FTP.

This probably would have been better to send as a PM on the forum, oh well.
