Title: A couple q's
Post by: fs2freak88 on January 26, 2003, 12:23:25 pm
Hey,

I have 2 questions:

1. How do you make a ship totally hidden from sensors? (Like Delta was when they were testing the Pegasus)

2. How do change the ship class of a ship? (Like the first time we met the Sathanas Juggernaut it said name: Unknown class: Unknown)

Thanks,

Mark

1 - use a stealth flag in the ships .tbl entry

2 - use the Alt name box in the ship info box in FRED

For question 1, you can alternatively use the latest SCP build and make use of the stealth sexps (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,11656.0.html) to set ANY ship to stealth mode without modifying the table entry (which would make it a permanent change).

Is there any other reason to post here?

Without the SCP build you'll also have to set the ship's IFF status to Hostile with an s-exp to get stealth mode. :)

The SCP is terrible. Altough its FRED2 was very good, it kept booting me back to the desktop. I tried getting rid of it but there was some files still hidden that I couldn't delete. So, I had to uninstall FS2 and reinstall it (FS2) and it worked great. I'm never gonna go back to SCP until that bug is fixed.

Did you put the warp.pof into your data/models directory.

I find the SCP excellent. If you think it is so terrible, go post your bug with bugzilla and do something about it.

With the SCP?

As I recall (w/o SCP), in the mission where you must fight Delta wing, the Pegasus fighters already have the stealth tag and when stealth mode is engaged what is actually happening is the IFF is being changed temporarily.
