Title: Operation Salvation released ( Campaign )
Post by: Darkage on January 26, 2003, 05:32:55 pm
After 2 weeks of work i finaly finished my campaign Operation Salvation. It is set in the same time frame as the main FS2 campaign but it has nothing to do with it though some things are formilar like the GD nebula. you play as a young pilot for the GTVA and you are send to the GD nebula to test a modyfied Aeoles cruiser. From there trouble begins.

Download (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/inferno/darkage/Opsalvation.zip)

Size: 11MB

Credits:

New stuff:
Shockwave
Two full CB ani's
One new player pic.

Any major bugs please e-mail me then my addres is in my siggy.

Also post your comments in this thread;)

I`m guessing he means two weeks hard work on top of however much he'd put in previously. Two weeks for a campaign is very fast :D

I'll say.  It took me about 3 months to do the five-mission Deus Ex Machina (granted, I had a few week-long breaks, but still...). :)

Haven't had time yet - too much schoolwork.  Friday releases are better than Sunday night releases. ;)

I'm in mission 3, and have the following to say:

Mission layout is superb. Great work man.
However, Mission let  me proceed even when I failed.
And, the briefings are far too short and contain a massive amount of spelling/grammar errors.

Re: spellcheck

No probs Darkage! How do you want it? - As a .txt or .rtf would be easiest - I'll paste it all into a document and zip it to you in the next few days. If you'd prefer something else then email or PM me:)

alright, I've played it as far as I could:
I can't finish mission05, as I start with a completly damaged herc2 and have BGgreens as secondary banks ( of course I can't use them :doubt: ), plus it doesn't make much sense to me that the memphis stays still, it should pursue it to pummel its back, no?
Also, mission04, as far as I know, is impossible to accomplish. I survived veeeeeeeeeery long on my own, the cruiser drop to 2%, I was really crossing fingers, and bam! BFred from the sathanas... could have had all her hull left, the cruiser wouldn't have survived.

other than that, it's quite fun and packed with action, tho I don't like much the "shivan wave after shivan wave" thinguy.
voila :)

Huh...the cruiser in M4 always survived when i played it.
I'll look into the stuff you mentiond.

The reason why it doesn't chase the Big Red, is that it should be posible to destroy it before it jumps out of the system.

I am still glad you found it still abit fun;)

but imagine:
"  Wait a second...the sathanas has passed us without slowing down! Here's our chance! To all stations! Full engines, let's show those damn bugs they should not turn their back to the GTVA!"
Then the colossus starts moving, and places itself right into the sathanas 6 o'clock, opening fire at will. That's a chance no captain would miss, if you ask me.
Plus that would look great, a chase between a colossus and a sathanas, no?

Btw, about the super beam cruiser, I lost it in mission04, but it was there in mission 05.

I'll implent your idea on the Big C, it's a good one. The reason the beam cruiser is there in M5 is because it should saved.
Did you download the update? if not then you can proceed to the next mission even if you fail it.

well there's no way I can save a cruiser from a BFred :doubt:

i've got a quople of q's:

1) gtSj Memphis, wtf is that S doing there?
2) i kinda miss the explanation about a new foghter class, in M1
3) same goes for a 2nd collusus
4) in M5, i start with an damaged erineys with 0 harpoons in one bank, and 1 in the other. i call for suport, and i've got 24 and 25 or something like that, and i haven't seen a single helios in the entire mission.
5) is it correct that you won't get any other p weapons then the subach and the prom r? (exept for M5, a kayser and a maxim)
6) where is the debrief for M5? i get:"no debriefing available for mission......"

and a coule of remarks:

a) nice CB's
b) the missions on itself are pretty good, but the story is kinda wierd.

whoa, you were lucky, I got a damaged herc2 ( so damaged that I first I couldn't even move, had to wait for the subsystem to be repaired ), and no secondaries, even when calling for the support ship, of course, try to rearm Bgreen :p

1: the S stands for Super so you get GTSJ Galactic Terran Super Destroyer.
2: Not a new fighter class but beam cruiser.
3: It doesn't have anything to do with the FS2 main campaign. ( thats what i also noted in the first post )
4: I ****ed up.
5: Same as 4
6: same as 4
