Murder class cruiser from Battlefleet Gothic. Okay, it's far from perfect, but it is my first big ship. I've set it at 3200 metres long (don't know exactly how big they are supposed to be; this size is reasonable) and it has 65 turrets.

cool (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) please don't delete the thread this time, I don't like to write the same thing twice (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
if you want to see how it would look in "real", go there basically: http://www.exile-films.com/ ("http://www.exile-films.com/")
in the galery section, it's a movie (kroozer attack). Not sure it's the same ship, but all space marine ships have about the same shape so it's not big deal.
-
I'll have to check that movie out when I get home; the machine I'm working on at the moment doesn't have quicktime player (or anything else for that matter) and it's got a 56k modem on a split line...downloads at about 1k per hour! Thats also why I didn't realise someone had already posted a reply on the one I deleted, the computer hadn't refreshed the page. Sorry.

Wow, nicely done!
...and welcome to HLP dude it's good to see some new talent (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, guessing from the other movies, the Imperial ship is a Dictator-class cruiser, not a Space Marine ship at all. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

mmh, sounds like... dwarf. I hate dwarves. Go da orcs! shav'dem ol!
-
Nope, it's from 40k, not fantasy.
-
Nice model. From what I understand the designers at GSW never put a scale to anything from Battlefleet Gothic. According to an interview I read it was done on purpose, but thier reason for doing so was a little unclear to me.

Some better pics (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

As for the origins my name, well, I've just made a CHAOS ship (kinda gives it away)
The scale thing also puzzled me, too. Perhaps GW were afraid someone was about to construct a two mile (or whatever) long spaceship and thus render their ships of the 41st millenium totally obsolete!
Looking at some of their artwork it seems that these ships should perhaps be a lot bigger than what I've scaled them at.

Dude, welcome to HLP! Maeglamor is right, it's nice to see some new talent around (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) And that is talent!
When I saw the title, I instantly thought Big ****ing Gun cruiser. Which obviously attracted me straight away (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
-
It's... Red Dwarf!
That thing rocks dude, great job and welcome to HLP (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Hey, you should plan making a TC (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) the model is top notch. But the map should be worked a bit more (oups, the murder cruiser is a chaos one, and is, ineed, red (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif))... Anyway, I love it. Btw, yeah, the ships look gigantic. Hell, the Emperor battleship's bridge is a full cathedral!
oh, some figurines here:

Shrike, yup, it's not space marine, but I think it's rather a Mars cruiser...

Nope... Mars-class battlecruisers feature dorsal lance turrets and a prow Nova Cannon, the Dictator has neither.
-
Beautiful model (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Woah...
The volume of fire coming from those flank turrets is impressive to say the least...

Well, to be honest, I've never seen what you call a dictator.
If it's not a Mars, so it's could be the Lunar version, it doesn't have the big turrets.
-
Why is it so red?

The Lunar carrier version is the Dictator. Replaces the broadside lance batteries with launch bays.

Errrr... no clue what most of you are talking about. Nice ship. When can we start blowing it up? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
46 thumbs and a plasma beam up!

Because chaos ships in BFG are red (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

I will probably post it for download in the next week or so. Like I said, it's not perfect and still needs some tweaking. I know the texture map is pretty basic so I've started a new map for it.
As for a TC, well, I didn't think there would be great demand for one, since BFG is not really a fighter game. Still, it might be good to see a 40k space battle from a fighter (or bomber) pilots point of view. So, who wants to make an Emperor class battleship? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Thats right, the ship is a Dictator.

gnnnh "try to resist to the dark side of the force"
Btw, you have some fighters in 40k like the ork chassa bomba or the thunderbolt (or the Tau barracuda (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif) ), that's enough no? heh, you can even make a flyable thunderhawk (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) there's also that dark eldar fighter forgeworld made (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Dark Eldar fighter? Must have missed that one. Bet its very spikey. Well, I think I will try making an Imperial cruiser and a couple of fighters (one Imperial, one Chaos). A Thunderhawk gunship should be fairly easy to do as well.

Imagine two big raptors, both with a closed cockpit and large wings, and put together (like those twp part boats, dunno the english name). I also saw the same with only one hull, but larger wings (those large wings looks dull if you ask me, but...)

I dunno, does your cannon have the blast radius of a moderate sized moon?
-
No but the capship version (the SuperNova) can kill fighters that get within 150 meters of the impact (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Yes BFG has fighters, but no, they are not the focus of the game so you're risking overshadowing the player's efforts OR you're risking killing the game's concept. Either way it's not pretty (esp. for purists (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))
What you could do is outline the exploits of an escort carrier as it protects a shipping lane within the Imperium. At sompepoint during the campaign have [insert bad-guy here] show up and the carrier must fight a desparate stalling action until help can arrive and end the campaign with a battlefleet showing up to really stomp some butt! That should keep player and purist alike happy.

Don't forget BFG is just about a sector of the imperium (I think). There must be some heavy fighter involvement all around the galaxy ( I know Armageddon did have a lot of dogfights ). An assault on a planet will most likely need fighter suppression if you don't want the drop pods to be shot down. Or else you use exterminatus (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
Fighters are important in BFG, but the game is on so much bigger scale than FS that any individual fighter is nothing more than cannon fodder. We're talking like dozens launched per wave, per ship.
-
So when is this modle gonna be available in the downloader's market?

Sandwich and his gripes about Alpha 1 won't be too bad here, then. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Yeah, I suppose thats how a lot of fleet actions get started in the Imperium; small patrol encountering the vanguard of an invasion force and calling for backup, whilst trying to stall the invaders.A single Mars or Dictator class and a handful of Sword class frigates would probably be a typical Imperial patrol. The cruiser (or carrier) would function in much the same way as a Destroyer in FS, trying to minimise its exposure, launching hit and run attacks with fighters and escort ships, and occasionally engaging isolated or crippled enemy capships, until reinforcements arrive. Good God! I almost have the basis for a campaign!

yeah, until a space hulk emerges from warp and blast capel... hem, oups (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
