OKay, this thing doesn't actually let you add new turrets to a POF, does it?

Well they have to be there in the model already. Otherwise how would the game know what they looked like?

If you are trying to add turret models to a ship, then no. You have to learn modeling and the Truespace heirarchy to do that. You can find Truespace 2 here: http://www.jlstsi.com/download.htm. Get it and start tinkering, and you'll be able to do just about anything you want to FS ships.

Okay, so what exactly does the "add turret" feature in PCS do? Besides looking pretty, I mean.

Assuming the turret geometry already exists in the model, it turns said geometry into a functioning turret. Otherwise, the subobject will merely sit there as so many wasted polygons.

So it doesn't let you add a new turret using the existing submodel of another turret already in there, eh?
Basically, this thing is for building/converting and not editing existing POF's.

You can do some things to existing pof's but mostly it's for converting. I don`t think there are any tools that would simply add a turret to an existing ship.

Hmmm. Lets go one better. There's NO WAY a tool could be made that could do that :D
