Title: Names, names, names!
Post by: Galemp on January 31, 2003, 02:35:03 pm
Endless supplies of ship names in every style imaginable! Pick your style and set NameMage to work; it will generate as many names as you like. Pick Indian or Babylonian names for Shivans, Greek or Roman names for Terrans, Egyptian names for Vasudans, Norse names for the NTF, and Minoan names for Ancients. Also useful for roleplaying games.

Another cool enhancement found by GalacticEmperor, purveyor of cool enhancements!

The zip now includes .nam files for Mesoamerican, Egyptian and Minoan names, by yours truly. Put them in the names folder where you installed the program.

Thanks, GE. The roleplaying aspect of the program will come in handy (I'm running an FS-post-Capella campaign set seven years after the incident, using TSR's Alternity as the system, the Alternity Star*Drive for ground weaponry and my own schemes for ship-to-ship combat. And yes, the scumbags ARE part of the GTVI :D )

Ah, I see how this works; it doesn't just pick from a list, but rather makes up new names using word fragments. Pretty clever, and nobody is going to be able to tell the difference anyway. :D

Although for Norse names I'd just look here. (http://www.rathergood.com/val_halal)

Very useful for in mission names, but for class names I'd still use Pantheon.org - lets you sort of include a meaning into the name related to the mythical figure...

I wouldn't use these names for ship classes, but they are very good for names of ships.
