You get to keep it for 10 days... long enough to burn a copy. (On a no-cost, non-commercial personal basis only of course.) Finally, somewhere dependable with FS2 in stock!
-
evryone with an FAQ should add this as a scource...
-
I thought it said in the copyright they weren't allowed to do this?
-
allowed to do what? Rent it out?
Why wouldn't all games say that then?

:D :D

You don't even have to burn a copy. Just install it and download fs2_open. I lost all my CDs, but I can still play.
-
Well yeah, but what about all the artwork, models, voice etc? There's more to Freespace than just the executable.
-
But if you install it then you already have the voice, etc. on your HD... Although, when you send the CD's back you won't be able to view the cutscenes. :sigh:

Unless you also install them to your hard drive in a data/movies drawer

[color=66ff00]Only if you own an original copy of the game in which case it's backing up, which you are allowed to do (despite what certain large american media corporations would have you believe).
If you did own a copy there would be very little reason for you to rent it except in the case of having a scratched CD. Renting a game you don't own to burn a copy is illegal.

but with the release of the Source Code, and the license agreement, i thought it pretty much said that Freespace 2 was public, that you could give out copies to whoever you want...
wasn't it?
-
Essentially, as long as you don't sell it.
-
right.
so renting the game and burning a copy of it (even though you don't own a copy) is completely legal.
nice! :D
