Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt individuals devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Cheese Exports, and Gambling industries.
Crime is a serious problem. Acraba's national animal is the ali landry, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the women.

The average income tax rate is 51%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Basket Weaving.
Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Ciron's national animal is the gryphon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the chek.

Yeh, I remember sitting through fifteen minutes of slow-loading forms trying to make a country out of a chunk of Mexico siezed by the Tijuana cartel in order to have a place to process crack in, and then giving up. After all, when it won't except the "cocaine brick" as a national currency and won't listen when you tell it that the national animal got shot and eaten by a Columbian mercenary last week, what's the point?
