Well isn't this interesting. I want one for a pet.

wonder if they'll be able to do tricks...
-
Me, I'm not interested until they score some good Velociraptor DNA. Or, at least, a saber-toothed tiger. What's the fun of another elephant, just with more hair?

well, it's twice a big and can throw your house down, isn't it cool?

God will not allow this to happen because my Southern Baptist brothers will stop you, BY PRAYING!!!!
Rampage
-
Not a bad thing, could mean the restoration of a number of extinct species; probably the restoration of a good number of those we humans have destroyed.
And Rampage, why pray against it? If God doesn't want it to happen, He won't let it; if the 'experiment' works, then it could only mean that it is the will of God to revive the species. Have you anything against the species itself? Because thats the only reason why I could see a need to pray against it. ;)

:wtf:
*hopes Rampage is joking*

[takes the ass-pole out a few inches]
Sheesh, some senses of humor here.
-
And then if elephants became extinct, nobody would care cuz they could see into the past and then maybe the mammoths would evolve back into elephants!
-
a team of Japanees and Russan scientists are planing to clone a mammoth... becase... we didn't have enough fun makeing it go exstinct the first time! yes thats it!
-
Now all we need is a mammoth tank. :D
Anyway, interesting news here; humans should come into the mix soon enough.
Velociraptor
You know, I was recently playing the secret Dino missions in C&C, and these little buggers can get very annoying due to their speed... :p

Someone clones a bunch of velociraptors and we'll be the ones to go extinct :p

ooh I heard about those.. don't think I ever played em' though. How do you get to them again?

I don't know, given a Velociraptor and an APC with a machine gun, I think I'd put my money on the APC. Extinction by dinosaurs doesn't rank high on my list of concerns right now...
-
Ah- but twenty of them, and you've got something interesting...:D
-
Raptors weren't as dangerous as Spielberg made out. What you saw on the screen were actually a lot closer to the Deinonychus - another Dromaeosaur, but bigger and faster. Velociraptors were actually quite a bit smaller (say, about the size of a big dog) and had different shaped skulls etc.
Cloning a mammoth I'm not sure about - it did die out a fair while ago, and I doubt it'd be adapted to the modern world. A thylacine though, now there's a worthy (and probablky not that far off) project.

Yes, he is. Heh heh.
(At least, he better be, or I'm going to bludgeon him with a Bibl... er, love him. )

You do realize all clones up to date have been "hicks". We're talking inbreeding to the extreme.
Not to mention ALL those cells will have lost a **** load of tellimeres. Those babies tell a cell when they should die etc, the clock so to speak of a cell. That thing won't live a long time.

hmm, nope the velociraptor is about that big ( look at the movies again, the raptors are smaller than people save for a couple exceptions ), but yeah, they were surely not that dangerous. The deinonychus was bigger, had that cool huge fang, and I doubt any of those were able to open a door :p

Scientists to clone wooly mammoths. God surrenders.
Nah, 'tis all part of his masterplan.

The Ice Age didn't kill the mammoth, over-hunting by human tribes is what did it.

hehehe
Shrike wants one for a pet:eek:
You will need a mamouth pooper scooper when taking it for the morning walk:lol:
You can also take it into Anon`s yard when its time for the morning walk  :D
Anon stepped in what :eek2:
I can hear him already (the use of words that aren`t in any dictionary):ick
(edit) j/k
if they really do clone one i can only wonder what they will clone next :shaking:

shivans.

I would prefer a thylacine myself those were cool little buggers, and I beleve there is one preserved in alcahol somwere, and I do beleve that makes a rather good DNA preserver.
-
There are actually dozens, all over the world, which is good because it gives a lot of potential DNA (widens the gene pool somewhat). And the project to bring them back is under way - it's also under funded and under recognized, but meh. That said, there's also a chance that the Thylacine is not extinct - 1 third of Tasmania is relatively unexplored, and there are still semi regular, unconfirmed sightings (kinda like bigfoot I guess, but meh).

If you knew my friends, you'd know that alcohol is NOT a good DNA preserver

Hmm.... Is this thylacine you are talking about the Tasmanian Tiger? I heard they had an embryo stored in formaldehyde.
