Let's do like the trekkies do, and vote on the best Freespace admiral to date. Reasons post below.
-
Bosch! Bosch, you fools!
-
Bosch probably had the best luck, but robert luggia 0wnz0rs :D
-
Bosch, simply because he is the only bad guy. :D
-
I voted Wolfe. In the FS1 briefing cutscene about the taranis he really looked the Admiral part. :)
-
Wolfe all the way, what other admiral would sacrafice himself to save his crew\pilots?

I have to agree on that one. Wolfe and Shima were the only two to actually seem like they were in control of their ships and the situation around them. (I mean, come on... Petrarch couldn't even send the transmission from the Aquitane when it was getting pummelled, he let a staff officer who looks and sounds just like every other Terran officer do it, and Bosch was at the head of "a monster that [he] is powerless to stop") Plus Wolfe's the only one who died in combat as far as we know, so there's a huge martyr element to his character as well.
-
I mean...dur?
-
Petrarch. Say what you like, he's the one who's still alive at the end of FS2, and that's what counts.
-
we don't really know about Bosch do we?
still.... Petrarch!
-
If he's alive, he's getting probed day in, day out by Shivans. I don't know if it's better to be some alien's gimp than to be dead, frankly.
-
Petrarch............all the way!
-
Wait, is this about which person is best at being an admiral or which one you would like to be?
-
Petrarch. Anyday. Anyway.
-
...Who was the guy on the NTD Repulse?
*fires up VPview*
Ah yes, the nice Mr Koth. If ramming your ship and its crew into the Collosus isnt serving the NTF, i dont know what is. :)
-
I have plans for Koth. Oh yes indeed.
*pats NTV vp files*
-
We do?...I mean, yes, of course we do :nervous:
-
Muahahahaha.... *pats Port VP files*
-
Bosch, because...well, that's none of your business.
-
Carl's been doing a different kind of probing...
-
bosch is god!
-
Shima seems to be getting too little votes? Whazzup with taht.:sigh:
-
It has to be Petrarch. I mean, I named myself after him, so who else could it be?
Anyway, what about Admiral Khafre?
-
Or Ahmose? ;7
-
I'm sure I don't want to know why that warrants use of the pervy smiley...
-
Want? Should you be so lucky as to find out :D
-
DatDB internal, boy!
-
*sneezes*
How bout' Roemig.. the Guy on the Trinity.. ?
*runs*
-
Or, for that matter, the Shivan in command of all 100 Sathanases. Can't forget him, can we?
-
Borsch!

He's not an admiral.

quiet you
*fires shotgun*
-
and once again, this thread has been successfully derailed.
Congrats, KT.
-
Petrarch cause he orchestrated the defense of the GTVA utiliting only the 3rd fleet.
Admiral Kinsey...er, Bosch just plain sucks.
-
Damn, should have included Khafre. The best Vasudan voice evar.
-
Admiral Shima is da bomb
so is "Admiral" Bosch
-
What do you mean "Admiral"
What else is he?
BTW, who does the voice for Bosch?
-
edit :"Supreme-Admiral" President , Commander and Chief whatever.
Bosch screws over the entire human race and vasudan race. but.... he did gather thousands of men and women.
Argh...Sigh i'm going to take a nap.
-
how about Dear Leader Bosch? :D
Damn, should have included Khafre. The best Vasudan voice evar.
I liked Khafre as well, but the one problem with him is that he just spoke too slowly; maybe his translator needed new batteries. :p
-
"Gimp".

All the voice actors speak too slowly, I can read an entire CB before Loggia has finished the first sentence.

'I really liked that. Vasudan text sounds cooler that way
-
Wolf is the best... He single handedly protected Vasuda Prime, and bought enough time for transports to escape...
-
I would think that all 4 are top notch leaders. The main differences that we have to judge them by are perhapes more based on circumstances than their qualities.
Wolf, led the Galetea through a ton of the most intense early battles of FS1, against what some might say was the most dangerous period for terrans and vasudans, givin that they were still fighting each other, the technological defficiencies (sheilds, guns, sensors, ect.), and knowing almost nothing about the shivans. Thus Wolf fought under the most trying of circumstances compared to the other 3, and to gain victories in alot of those battles says alot to him. Perhapes the others would have done as well, but circumstances dictated other wise.
Same goes for Shima, as commander of the Bastion, she also fought in alot of the early battles, but survied the Battle for Deneb unlike Wolf, not that it really was Wolfs fault. Circumstances placed her in position to gain her greatest glory, by leading the fight that resulted in the destruction of the Lucifer.
Petrarch and Bosch I would think are on a different playing field entirely, given the vastly different circumstance between FS1 and FS2. When it is all said and done though, I find it too hard to pick one over the other, but since I take liking to the Galatea, Ill go with Wolf hehe :)

This will turn out like those Picard V Kirk debates that plague trekkie sites.
Petrarch is better, as bosch's hat is less aerodynamic, thus making his ship slower!

No air in space. Aerodynamics don`t mean squat. Besides Bosch's hat provides him with meteor protection. Witness how easily the Iceni gets through the asteroid field in that first mission where you`re working for SOC.
BOSCH's HAT RULES!

YES! You shall ph43r the Plan™ ;7
But Petrarch has this uber-cool voice, which makes him popular with the laydeez.

Well. You do surprise me. I never knew that. Really. That did come as a shock.
-
Actually, do we even know that Petrarch wears a hat? since you never get to actually see him...
-
Good point. But, as we can hear is voice clearly, it is a godd chance that he doesn't have a hat, as it would block the sound.
-
he could have a coned hat that amplifies voice.
-
like a party hat or something?
perhaps he has neither hat nor hair... :D
-
Maybe he doesn't even have a head.
-
It's true you never see him. Perhaps Petrarch is a disembodied AI algorithm haunting the computer banks of the Aquitaine...
-
Sounds about right.
BTW, GE, do you realise you have two "SA" avatars?

That would certainly explain his accent and tone. But he doesn't turn into a criminal master-mind bent on destroying man kind, so no.
-
the only people in that poll we actally see are bosch and Wolf
[question]Was Shima and the Bastion ever at Deneb?[/question]
-
Nooooo! Sparking off debates about the intro!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
-
im not talking about the intro... All i care about the intro is that that CAN'T be the Bastion...
-
Petrarch was cool in ID4, but he talks too slow. I like Wolfe better, Setekh showed me some of the good bits from FreeSpace 1 and the Galatea rules. :D
-
I voted Bosch........I think he had the right idea, but went about it in the wrong way.
-
I voted Shima, 'cos she's a woman.
-
Ahh. I see. I agree as long as she is not as annoyingly strident as Janeway.
-
The poll spells Admiral Wolf's name wrong... Its Wolf, not Wolfe...
-
I thought it was Woolf.
