I can't figure that out either... I'm assuming it's the camera. But it IS a step forward toward real camouflage coats

Meh.

And "meh" at the slow reporting on here, too. Every other board featured this story hours ago.

Yeah. They've been working on optic camouflage that thing for years.

Bah, that's just simple logic, but it'd only ever work one way.  For a camera to be as effective as that is demonstrating, it would have to be fairly large and couldn't be covered by the reverse side camo.  The transparent cockpit idea sounds good though.  Funny thing is, it never mentions military applications.  Oh well, I guess a camera-and-projection system would be too fiddly and expensive for combat units anyway.

somebody invented the worlds blackest material recently - 25 times less reflective than anything else. Cost about £500/$800 per square inch.

Edit: Linkification.

You see thorough her. It's not reflections. It's something like glass or TV. The person in front of the TV camera is projected on you TV. (DUH) Better yet, It's something like a one way street.

"It's the blackest surface commercially available," he told BBC News Online. "It's a very interesting surface to look at because it's so black."

The British army tried this optical **** with tanks a few years back.
Don't know if it worked though.
