Title: shield check for Hyrock ???
Post by: LAW ENFORCER on October 06, 2001, 04:43:00 pm
I think there is a problem with the sheilds of my Hyrock, they work for the most part but quite offten let guns through. I have closed them enough to not be tte distence - but it seems to miss out sheild faces here and there (no sheild .ani thing on that part).

Would any one be able to take it and check to see if sheild faces are missing? the original looks fine, so does truespace, you carn't tell with ModelView32 either

(it is a problem - the same spec at moment Roland Ranger out survives it by about 6 minuets. (12 minuet game)

Nah. I think I know what it is: some normals on the shield mesh are probably flipped. I know woomeisters knows how to fix that, you should ask him.

Heh, shows how much I know. I didn't even know shields had normals. Then again, shields have polys too, so I guess...

I'm curious, does the ship take damage when the shields arent in place?

What ARE you talking about?
It takes damage when the sheilds are blown off it takes damage, it takes damage when guns hit certain areas (don't know where though, only know areas that are sheild - .ani). Haven't removed the sheild before mission yet.

No silly  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) say u mess up on those vertices and still  have shields around a shuttle, if their is a physical hole in it, will the fighter still take damage like in real life.  or will it simply ignore the geometry?

As in, are the polys on the hull flipped too, or just the shields?
