Title: Interplay has changed the poll AGAIN.
Post by: Stunaep on February 10, 2003, 12:45:52 pm
Their going more straightforward every time. Looks like they really are looking for some fan opinions. Which is understandable, AFAIK, since they need something that'll sell, if they want to stay alive.

anyway, http://www.interplay.com

I voted for the fourth option.

It was 12% a while ago. :p

Edit: That was because as you can see from the image, I didn't have option three or four. Now it seems to work, and I think I'd vote for option two.

I think Interplay is going to make an open-ended Descent game, based on criminal activity in the mines. You can steal Pyros and stuff.

So far, "One major goal, freedom of choice" is in the lead at 54%, with "Mixture of linear and non-linear" right behind it at 22%, "Step by Step" at 17%, and "H0t Ch1x" at 7% (thank goodness).  (I'm all for hot chicks, but not if its the only good part of the game.)

Don't get your hopes too far up. Apparently they've been jerking the Fallout fans around for next to forever- they put up the polls, but they're just market research along with all the other kinds they do, and a poll saying one thing definitively doesn't mean that they'll necessarily do that.

Keep in mind that the net-savvy crowd who'd FIND the poll are only a portion of the market.

I like the third option best. Nonlinearity is of course good for replayability and all, but some of the finer aspects of scripting cannot be easily duplicated with a completely open-ended system (e.g. "surprise" missions in FS2).

Although Interplay is probably just makign these polls to get more website hits, which have probably skyrocketed since they started to receive all these poll spammers from the game communities... :D

Todd: Who exactly is developing this? Switching ships on the fly sounds certainly like an interesting idea.

Their new company, Lockstar. The game will be called DTA3: Rice City. I think they're just trying to tap into the success of Rockstar & GTA3: Vice City.

I kid.

I voted for the fourth option, mainly because I want to see Interplay go completely bankrupt by making a bullcrap Britney Spears game. Then Volition can buy the rights to FS.

Right, newbie's dream..... Carry on people.

I just saw this poll. If they were to follow the polls they get, they would sink in one year. The latest one is asking what works best in a game, in general and 76% of the people said h0t ch1x

If Interplay only puts hot chicks in their next game, there is absolutely no hope of FS2.

Maybe they'll have Volition revive my idea of a Casino-ship with giant pictures of Jeri Ryan naked plastered across their massive hulls.

I seriously doubt with a option like "HOt CH1x" it will be taken seriously. And honestly, if you have to resort to polls to decide what games to make, something is wrong with your company (well.....nevermind *leaves door wide open*)
