Title: 3D Mark 2003
Post by: Ulundel on February 12, 2003, 04:02:33 am
Futuremark has just released 3D Mark 2003 though I haven't found a working mirror yet. Once again we can see some great graphics and ultimate detail. :)

Yesterday it was next to impossible get when it was released (at around 4PM GMT), and still seems to be very slow. And that makes it even worse, is that the download is 177MB.

Soon I can see some awesome and laggy graphics. w00t! :p

3DMark03 score (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=42340)
3DMark2001 SE score (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=5922784)

I don't think it was next to impossible to get, not if you have a good download manager, like Flashget. :p
But I was amazed of the fact that only the first test (Wings of Fury) runs smoothly! :eek2:

*sigh* Makes my puter to feel ancient.:blah:

This is really depressing - I remember when I used to get 12K on the old tests... now I'm reduced to around the 1600 range. I'll get a proper benchmark later since I didn't optimise everything and shut down the internet before running it.

Still...sad...

I´ll d/load that the minute I get home. I still think, I can expect a good 8000-9000 range, with my uberpower new pc.

Don't get your hopes too high. I'll bet you get say...max 4000 or 5000. Maybe less

Nvidia Discredit The Validity Of 3DMark2003 As A Gamer's Benchmark (http://www.hothardware.com/)

Bunch of whiners I say... (And I have NVIDIA card)

I hope this is not going to become a flame war.

I tell you this, there is no clear winner in ATI vs. NVIDIA battle. Both are good but both also has their flaws.

Rightyo - my score came out as 1644.

Edit: For reference - my 2001SE score was 12037...

I'm going to go and cry for a bit now... excuse me.

What video card and processor? :p

(Nobody has got that much)

Edit: And Thunder, why care that much about 3dmark? The fact that GF4's don't support DirectX 9.0 drops the score a lot. Yet, games that support DirectX 9.0 will not come this year most likely.

Edit2: And I can't run it. Crashes after 35seconds from start. Which is too bad (most of my 3D apps do (not FS2 though)).

Could you hold off a few hours on that? There's some things I need to download first.

Hehe, you know what I mean :)

And RedFang, it's not that - but some of these things... they reduced this rig to 2FPS... I mean it was pitiful...

You guys know that the sole purpose of this program is not as a benchmarking program, but to make people want to upgrade more.....right?

Think about it...when people see that they're getting 600 something points, they're gonna feel bad about it and be more likely to shell out hundreds of dollars for the latest and greatest hardware...only to get a slightly better score!

All I'm seeing is that nothing is loading. Thus, I, by default, am the only judge, and grant myself a million points. Case solved.

I still look at things this way - the only benchmark I need:

Does it run all the games I want to play?

No
Upgrade computer to suit requirements of game.

Yes
Enjoy game.

Enough said ;)

You think they would have realised this when they saw that nVidia supports it...

hehe the Wings of Fury was the best IMHO...
the frame rates on the other tests were hilarious (1-11FPS :D )

but in fact the funniest thing was how that one single program managed to get so many servers so badly overloaded in one evening
