Title: Charybdis Turrent Oddness
Post by: diamondgeezer on February 12, 2003, 10:22:01 pm
:wtf:... does everyone else have screwed up coordinates on their Charybdis' turrets, or just me?

*Thinks DG should find a new FS2 set*

The firing points of the turrets are all offset from the turrets themselves by varying degrees... I can fix them easily enough, but I was just wondering if this is a bug in the original model, or if somehow I've broken it...

Yes it does indeed have screwed up firepoints.

I have a fixed version for anyone too lazy to fix it.

Yes, I ran into that problem too. It seems that a number of the original ships have some bug or another with their turrets... :p

Yes, like the Faustus, one of its turrets has a fighter loadout on it.

Turret 3

Subach/Akheton Rockeye/Tempest

For some reason I always thought it was supposed to have this, like a weapons testing turret or something.

:doubt:

Heck, the Moloch and Iceni both had mixed up turret loadouts.  No balance at all.

And the Rakshasa.... 3 SReds in the prow?  Thats a little OTT for me.

Yep.  I also have a fixed version.  For those who would like to do it by themselves are more than welcome to do so.

I've fixed the entire ships.tbl, all weapon probs and other bugs ironed out, all tech descriptions removed, and all comments deleted.

However, I lost it.

What's wrong with 3 SReds? It's actually not as much as you think, a full volley only brings a aeolous down to 65% - 70%

IMO it's a fine medium between the weak cain and the powerful lilith.

Agreed.  The Rakshasa is perfect.

What's up with the LTerSlash anyway? Why didn't they just give the Fenris an Sgreen and the Levy a TerSlash? It's still insignificant compared to the Shivan beam weapons.

I think that was the point. The fenris has never really been that strong. It was supposed to be more of a Knife Fight weapon me thinks, like for taking out freighters and .. tickling other cruisers. About the insignificance, that just shows how much the shivans own :)

The SGreen itself is also rather weak, but I think it kinda suits the type of ships that use it.

What I think was an actual error was the Mentu's loadout. I think it was meant to have to SVas's. it says so in the tech description and it would make sense. It would make it the perfect ship to take on the convoy escort role that the terrans have with the Aeolus.

Another obvious and well known error is the Mjolnir, which in the Tech description has 2 missle launchers along with the main beam i think. Personally, I think it is balanced fine right now for what it is as a first generation RBC. If it were to be beefed up without changing the design or model, I think it should have shields.

I think what would be cool is if the Lterslash was turned into a sorta Ultra AAAF for caps. the UAAAF actually does more damage per minute than the LTerSlash and possible SGreen although I can't remember (it's on Zylon's FAQ). But maybe making the Lterslash into a long range rapid fire, kinda weak beam, against cap ships, maybe using it to disarm ships turrets and so on.

GreenBeam is the best of the light beams. I've fitted it to everything.
