Before Chrstimas I went for an interview to Huddersfield New College, where I hope to go next year. After I went hoem the college faxed my head of year at school, and told her to sen my predicted grades and report to the colege.
Yesterday I found out that SHE STILL HASNT DONE IT!
If I miss out on being accepted because the stupid bint is bloody lazy to send them my grades, she will rue the day!
Also, today was the last day for applications for teh school's own Sixth Form, so if I don't get into Huddersfield, I am screwed!
-
Indeed. Bad luck...
-
I agree. If I were you I would sue that ***** who did that to you. I can't immagine that people can do a suh a thing without the thought that they can ruin someone's life that way.
-
I'm with Razor on this one - don't spare this womans blood. She's got her cushy job doing whatever she doesn't do, you've still got it to live for - make it happen and then make her pay.
-
indeed, make her life a living hell..
-
My friends Jim and Ebbitt (don't ask:))had that happen to them - they gave their Uni apps to their Engineering teacher (who looks like Hank Marvin - scary), and he said he'd sent them off. Two months later: "Uhh, sir? we haven't had a confirmation letter from UCAS (the Uni application service). How long should it take?"
(Confused look on Hank's face slowly changes to shocked realization) "Ah. Ummm... I haven't sent them off yet - they're in my office."
LAZY-ASS BASTARD!
'S OK now, though - they reported him and he got his ass kicked by the department head!
Yeah, get her fired if she ****s it up for you.
-
Hmm, my place at college is actually reserved, so I can just get the grades and send them off my self, it turns out. Ho Hum.
Anyway, i am still going to complain, as there are people who have been for an interview within the past two weeks, ans have recieved their letters of confirmation.
-
How long has she had to send them, and why in god's name didn't you check up on her?
-
She's had since before Christmas, and I was under the misguided impressions that she could be trusted.
-
Well I blame it firmly on you then, she has more to do than that, so I would have...you know, asked a while ago.
-
is france the only place in the world where you have to do all that by yourself? For something that important, I'd bug the people supposed to do it every day, for god sake! it's february, what did you wait for? seems your future did bother you much those last days, heh? I might sound harsh, but it's easy to whine on some people who ( might? , I have no idea, she might be a lazy bum, or maybe she's not, everybody knows how those people are looked upon by students ) probably has 100's of things to do each day, and, yeah, CAN forget to do that. It's your life damn it, how will you do when you'll be on your own? geez.
-
I had to pick out the school that teaches ICT, like they are going to look for me? no they didn't, ofcourse they help you abit but the actual finding and trying to enter in the new school is your problem. It's your future and i wouldn't have let it depend on a teacher who said she was going to do stuff for you i would go after it my self. It's usualy faster also if you do it your self.

The school woud not allow me access to my predicted grades! It's ludicrous, I know, but that's how it is. That is why I couldn't do it myself.
Also, the college wanted to be sure the report came from a "reputable" source, as I could easily have altered them.
But, meh, it turns out that I am predictred to get A's in most subjects, so why would I want to alter them?

Still you should have been on her ass. Trust no one when it concerns your business. In today's schools, they don't really care about you. Hound them.

What's this? Someone agrees with me?

What? She had freakin two months to send those papers. Hey forget sueing. How about cracking her skull with a mallet?
-
I'll just leave some "calling cards" when I leave school. Hehe!
Kippers in the ceiling, hard drives being mysteriously formatted.
I did have the idea of taking all the doors off, but it would be very hard to manage. I could just take the signs off and mix them around.
-
a cousin of mine built a brick wall to shut the directors ( headmaster? whatever you call him, the guy who rules the school ) door...
that was funny.

3 words: Data Protection Act.
Under article 7 (methinks) if you write to them and formally request any and all data regarding you that they currently store on paper (computer-data comes under this in 2004 methinks), as long as it's reasonable and won't require them to sift through the basement files for 6 weeks to find, they are required by law to relinquish copies of them along with contact data for anyone they have supplied with the files.
There's a possible £10 fee payable to the Data Protection Officer for the school (or business, or organization) but most won't bother charging you.
And I think they're required to supply you with the files within 7 days. If they intentionally don't then they're in some deep **** with the law.
I've been meaning to ask my school for my files for a while now. There'll be ****ing heaps of stuff. I must have, literally, dozens of folders of detention records, bad information slips, bad reports and all sorts of junk.
-
DPA, now why didn't I think of that? I did get it drilled into me enough in 1st year of Uni.
Beyond that, in the UK there is coverage under a freedom of information act of sorts.
-
Well i need not worry now, the ***** has sent them off, and it turns out that my place at college was reserved, and this was merely a formality. Bloody red tape! i'm sure the place must be run by Vogons.
-
did you ever get that CD Petrach? i sent two of them in.
i swear Britan's Customs hates me

Ach, lazy college advisors and the like are a part of the application process, I'm afraid. One of my friends, his school has some sorta setup where he fills out part, gives the application to the advisor/whatever, he finishes it, and the school sends it out.
Last March, he found out that the advisor hadn't remembered to send his application. He was lucky, and scored a sweet-ass job doing not much in Brazil, but he's gonna have to college out there, 'cos there's not a school in the US that'll accept him now that he's late a year.
Me, my advisor didn't do the midyear reports until last week. Which was bad, since my apps were already a day late (and now I'm snowed in and can't meet the 15th deadline for some colleges, either).
Basically, you've got to harass them, scream at them, and panic about whether the colleges will overlook their idiocy until you get in. That's life.

i still wonder if the police have anything on me for shining a torch off a water tower :p

No, didn't recieve it. i'd stop trying if I were you, m8. Thanks very much all the same. It just looks, as you said, like cutoms hates you.

Pfff. I was declare MIA by the education system in like November and sealed in a section of the school known as The Base™. My applications for college were supposed to be done by September and sent off in February.
August 14th, I sent off my applications. I got an interview on...err......the 20-something-th of August (it was a Thursday) and was told to show up on Tuesday to recieve my time-table and be assigned to a tutor-group.
And this is inspite of getting ****ty exams results. Being expelled from school. Flat-out refusing to do any kind of mock exams over the previous Winter. Having a hang-over during the interview. And they phoned my Head Of Year, a woman who hates me.
And I still got in.
The universe loves me because I **** people up.
-
My god you are lucky, or its a crap college.:D
Which one is it, BTW?
-
Queen Elizabeth 6th Form College.
IIRC it's the 3rd best in the North, and top-10 for the whole UK.

They must get a government grant or something if they manage to get the numbers of students up.
;)

i might as well be declared MIA by my uni...oh wait, we only have 1 hours of lectures a week so it wouldnt matter anyway
-
Am I the only one who got an unconditional or something?
-
My Interview at Carmel College is on the 25th of this month.

If I wanted an unconditional I'd have applied for something ending in -ology. ;)
;) Unconditionals make you appreciate your place at Uni more.
On the thought of such things, while my rather raggedy bunch were in a lecture room today waiting for our lecturer to turn up, another one walked in and asked if we were there for midwifery.... :wtf:

Can't say I've ever heard of it I'm afraid, but then my school is forever harping about being one of the top ten in Britain, but i don't belive a work of it. This is a school that considers ICT to be on par with RS! We had half a year of RS, and half a year of ICT Key Skills[/i]!
It is, BTW, Brighouse High School. Heard of it?
I thought not.
