Since this has not been addressed (to my knollage) i`m going to ask..
Is there anyone who is working on a campaign by themselfs, (independently)
Feedback would be great.
-
*points to siggy*
Yes, its tedious, and yes it'll be a long time to completion. Also, my heart isn't in it - I have too many better things to do in RL
-
I am doing that too. Takes much longer, but it is coming out just as I want it. :D
-
Yeah, RL can put a dampner on things to do, but anyway, thanks for the imput vyper and CP5670:)
(edited) name correction :(
-
Tee hee hee...
*points at siggy*
:D
-
*slaps Whitelight* Whats ma name boy? :p
-
I didn`t stop at one :) The Mercury Affair is singlehanded but when I decided it was still going to take me a long time to finish I decided to start work on Seeds of Rebellion - A 5 mission mini-campaign that sets up TMA :)
I`ve done about 20 missions so far for TMA and I`ve got several mods in varying stages of completion for it
I could have taken on help but now I`m going to finish it myself out of sheer bloody-mindedness :)
-
OOppps
My bad, vyper
sorry and ouch!!
-
You're forgiven :p
-
4 so far, is there anyone else that is working on an independent project but hasen`t posted, if so please post, thanks..:)
-
I know I'm crazy, but yes, I am working on my own TC...
-
I'm doing one that's so scary it'll give you nightmares...
-
I got one tucked away that I work on now and then
-
lol...almost every member seems to have one...
-

Everyone who can Fred probably does
-
well...I suppose you are right...if you have an idea, you learn how to fred...
(lol...side note...at first I spelled "fred", "fread", which is for reading things in from files in C++...)
-
Wow there are more going on than I though:D
Seems everyone that has responded has a special camp in the making:)
(edit) As Analazon stated a TC, those are the hardest to do, good luck dude:D
-
the worst part is, I can't texture worth **** :doubt:
-
Beh, you think you've got problems, I still can't abide TrueSpace even enough to set up heirarchies.
-
lol...my truespace seems to be jealous ATM...it crashes my comp if I minimize/quit it, and it crashes my comp if I try to start it while either AIM or MSN messanger is up...
-
May be short on memory, i know that may cause a crash..
(edit) that may not be true, but have had programs freeze due to memory shortage.
-
I can kill everything but the antivirus and regular system stuff...and it will still crash...
-
When you close programs the drivers can still be in memory, that is when its time to flush the ram.
-
point...altho I think 512 megs of ram should be able to handle it...
-
Good point, i only have 384mb ram and still have freezes, Oh you did say crashes, then i`m stumped..
(edit) you have a newer pc than I do and i`m not up to date so anything that i can say would be redundant, rats..

Freespace: War on the other side (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,13209.0.html)

Standalone campaigns. Well at least Operation Tsunami is fully standalone and first Tale of EAS Janus campaign was semi-alone, I had grammar help and one model (thanks Abersoch and Pera, not to forget Traps and lastly Ashrak for webspace and WyattMax for new mirrors).
-
Wow didn`t expect to draw attension from a VWBB member, cool.
Oh I have release 1 of the babylon project installed waiting the arrival of release 2 with antisapation ;) :D
-
*points to sig*
Deus Ex Machina was done entirely by me, and Fortunes of War will be as well. :)

I came here because Karajorma kicked me in here. I probably just would have missed this topic
I do also wait TBP R2, I just cant wait to get back to Tale of EAS Janus ;)

As a general rule, I'll get about 10 new ideas for campaigns every week or so - one of which is generally so absolutely mind bogglingly brilliant that I immediately run Word and write a page or two of history, mission ideas etc. Then I realize how damned hard it'd be and exit :(. One day I'll get one started.
-
Generally you can ask anyone or their cousin's dog and they'll have a campaign of their own running.
And BW, whata about TI?
-
I'm running TI, but it's not independent. In fact, most of the rest of the team do more work than I do :)
-
Achilles Heel is independent. Not through choice, though.
-
Goober5000 and Miburo, thanks for the links:D
Won`t be bored for the next few days or so...
Goes off to open FS2:D :D
-
Hmmm ... sometimes ... yeah.:)
-
I too am working on a campaign (for the past year.) It's called 'The Hades Premise'. (And no, it is not as obvious as it sounds, tee hee...) Over ten missions are complete, and because I'm not entirely sure where I'm going, I don't know how many more are coming.
The strange part about it is that individually most of us do not have the skill or ideas to complete one campaign. But if we scrambled together all those missions from incomplete campaigns, I'm sure we could do a pretty good job making at least one campaign.
If anybody wants to laugh at my efforts so far, they can get to me through the PM system.

Flamethrowers are under the seats, but they're probably full of water, so you may need to use them as bludgeons. The Plasma rifles in the front locker are only unlocked by an admin., -V- god, or hyperintelligent shade of the color blue.
If you encounter a shivan, it's probably Carl. Just give him your lunch and back away slowly, and you might live.
Enjoy your stay! :D
-
There are quite a few independant campaigns being made, more than I had thought:nod:
Anyway, i`m also working on one, though i`m not much of a story writer, it has stalled for now..
The name of my campaign is (Point of Origin), it has to deal with the origin of the terrans, which in my campaign, isn`t the sol system...
A brief intulude into my camp
My story is that we were brought to sol by the ancients to preserve our species from the shivans 10,000 years ago... Well there now you know where i`m going with this, as to how the story will go is anyones guess.

~!Homeworld!~
;) :D
If you guys can count to 6048000 (and include all your mississippis) I'll show y'all somethin' cool.
-
I doubt whatever you have to show us is worth the time needed to count to over 6 000 000.
-
meh, you're probably right. Better quit now.
(I added an extra 4,000,000 for Shrike's surlyness BTW)
-
I'm not counting to 2 048 000 either. And Shrike hasn't posted in this thread.
-
And today isn't August 12th. :p
-
I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume there is some sort of obscure reasoning underlying your words...
:doubt: Or perhaps I'll not.
-
You know, I bet it would really piss KT off if I leaked something from DatDB... Wanna see if it's true?;7

how much I wasn't expecting that..
:blah:

If it gets the thread locked, then i`m incline to say No..
Good one KT:lol:
-
Is there anyone who is working on a campaign by themselfs, (independently)
Aye, lad. I am. May even release the demo some day and the rest after that.
-
Cool, when you do, i`ll sure be ready to give it a go, thanks for the responce Tar-Palantir..:D
