Yes, its tedious, and yes it'll be a long time to completion. Also, my heart isn't in it - I have too many better things to do in RL

I didn`t stop at one :) The Mercury Affair is singlehanded but when I decided it was still going to take me a long time to finish I decided to start work on Seeds of Rebellion - A 5 mission mini-campaign that sets up TMA :)

I`ve done about 20 missions so far for TMA and I`ve got several mods in varying stages of completion for it

I could have taken on help but now I`m going to finish it myself out of sheer bloody-mindedness :)

May be short on memory, i know that may cause a crash..
(edit) that may not be true, but have had programs freeze due to memory shortage.

Post by: Anaz on February 16, 2003, 10:33:09 pm
I can kill everything but the antivirus and regular system stuff...and it will still crash...

When you close programs the drivers can still be in memory, that is when its time to flush the ram.
Title: Independent campaigns
Post by: Anaz on February 16, 2003, 10:39:29 pm
point...altho I think 512 megs of ram should be able to handle it...
Title: Independent campaigns
Post by: Whitelight on February 16, 2003, 10:45:58 pm
Good point, i only have 384mb ram and still have freezes, Oh you did say crashes, then i`m stumped..

(edit) you have a newer pc  than I do and i`m not up to date so anything that i can say would be redundant,  rats..

Standalone campaigns. Well at least Operation Tsunami is fully standalone and first Tale of EAS Janus campaign was semi-alone, I had grammar help and one model (thanks Abersoch and Pera, not to forget Traps and lastly Ashrak for webspace and WyattMax for new mirrors).

As a general rule, I'll get about 10 new ideas for campaigns every week or so - one of which is generally so absolutely mind bogglingly brilliant that I immediately run Word and write a page or two of history, mission ideas etc. Then I realize how damned hard it'd be and exit :(. One day I'll get one started.

Generally you can ask anyone or their cousin's dog and they'll have a campaign of their own running.

And BW, whata about TI?

Post by: Black Wolf on February 18, 2003, 12:25:57 pm
I'm running TI, but it's not independent. In fact, most of the rest of the team do more work than I do :)

I too am working on a campaign (for the past year.)  It's called 'The Hades Premise'.  (And no, it is not as obvious as it sounds, tee hee...)  Over ten missions are complete, and because I'm not entirely sure where I'm going, I don't know how many more are coming.

The strange part about it is that individually most of us do not have the skill or ideas to complete one campaign.  But if we scrambled together all those missions from incomplete campaigns, I'm sure we could do a pretty good job making at least one campaign.

If anybody wants to laugh at my efforts so far, they can get to me through the PM system.

Flamethrowers are under the seats, but they're probably full of water, so you may need to use them as bludgeons. The Plasma rifles in the front locker are only unlocked by an admin., -V- god, or hyperintelligent shade of the color blue.

If you encounter a shivan, it's probably Carl. Just give him your lunch and back away slowly, and you might live.

Enjoy your stay! :D

There are quite a few independant campaigns being made, more than I had thought:nod:

Anyway, i`m also working on one, though i`m not much of a story writer, it has stalled for now..

The name of my campaign is (Point of Origin), it has to deal with the origin of the terrans, which in my campaign, isn`t the sol system...
A brief intulude into my camp
My story is that we were brought to sol by the ancients to preserve our species from the shivans 10,000 years ago... Well there now you know where i`m going with this, as to how the story will go is anyones guess.
