I've just spent the last 15 hours fighting with FRED2. I'm stuck trying to get mission 14 "Fall of the Invincible" of my Starfighter TC finished and NOTHING seems to be working right. (@#$%! 2 missions to design, plus voice acting, PLUS rebuilding all of the models with smoother skins, only 2 weeks to get it all done in, and NOW THIS!!! The biggest bug I'm fighting with right now is that you just can't call for your reinforcements (which is a real bummer since you NEED those damn bombers to deal with the enemy cruisers that show up near the middle of the mission).
Does anyone out there have any clue what might be going wrong?

Well, if calling for reinforcements won't work, sexp the bombers to come in say, 30 seconds after the cruisers do.
And if reinforcements are needed otherwise, you can sexp the other wings as waves with say, 45 seconds as a delay.
Or a new wing to come in after everyone else is killed.
If fred wants to fight, change tactics.
On the other hand, have you tried starting from scratch?
(Save the mission file elsewhere and then edit with wordpad, and copypaste into the new mission.

Why can't you call for reinforcements? (Which wing(s) did you set for reinforcements, where did you set the reinforcements (in the wing editor or that reinforcement editor?), etc)?

Maybe if there is a set arrival SEXP for the ship.... based on my dabblings with FRED, that can cause the odd problem.

Yeah, getting reinforcements to work properly can be a pain and a half, I agree.
Here's an idea, though, that would make the mission a little different... have a WINGMAN call in reinforcements. It's something that never happens, I thought it might be an interesting touch, make those other zombie fighters seem a bit more human.

Found it! I found the problem!!
The SEXP for the wing arrival for the reinforcement craft got set to false. I got it to work by setting them to true.
It seems that they changed the way reinforcements worked from FRED to FRED2, and it still tries to be smarter than you by doing you the "favor" of setting them to false when you set the wing as a reinforcement.
Anyway, I'm back on schedule. Only one mission left to build, generate the voice acting scripts, and construct the campaign. HOORAY!

got the last mission built! All seven of the Act I missions are complete (unfortunately, the demo campaign is going to be fairly linear, don't have time to build a dynamic campaign just yet...)
That just leaves getting the voice acting done, building the camaign, and generating the new *.VP file. Easily doable by November.
