Title: Has anyone tried GMax?

It's a new version of 3DStudio Max.
It's free and designed for gamers who want to do mods.

GMAX only exports to GMAX format, which, so far, can't be converted to cob / 3ds.  It is intended to work with games using specific plug-in support - i.e. so Discrete can make money out the games manufacturer in licensing, which is passed onto the games player.

Ahh.  I was wondering how that worked out.
The basic program is free but if I want a add-on to save to say, .pof (should they add freespace filetypes) I'd have to buy that add-on.

*pfts and keeps with 3ds3*

I think they expect the developers to pay to include the plug in exporter with the game.  I believe has already ruled out an exporter for Red Facion, due to the cost (preventing the SDK being free).
