Title: A somewhat odd request...
Post by: Fineus on February 25, 2003, 09:53:31 am
This is for the audio fiends...

I need a military style drum beat - for the ideal kind see the drum beat thats played during the prelude to the dropship fall to LV426 in Aliens. Exactly that would be incredible but I can't find it anywhere. Anything similar would be most welcome.

the Terminator 3 trailer... at the end of it, it has "RISE OF THE MACHINES" or something like that, and it has that kind of "military drum beat" i think you're talking about... not sure if that's what you mean though... go watch the trailer, and tell me if the drums at the last 10 seconds of the trailer are what you're talking about

Punch it, Bishop! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000001542/inktomi-musicasin-20/103-6631319-9663856) :D

Both of those are great examples.. though I'd rather not buy the entire CD just to get a couple of decent tracks. Kazaa is fruitless on this one...any ideas?

Try WinMX. It's at least ten times better when searching for music.

is this the "drumroll" you were talking about?

now that i listen, it's more like a sci-fi or action drumroll, not really military, but you might like it... (see attachment)

Hmm, thats sorta it - I see what you're getting at, but the ones in Aliens have more of a... well a military style. An actual beat to them that carries with it the whole idea of a marine force suiting up for combat.

Yep. He proabably would. The drum beat he wants isn`t actually on the soundtrack album.  Damn good album though :)

I know, thanks mate (I did mean the movie) - but it was a fairly random thing to ask for anyway...

Ah well...

Mainly the one I was refering to contained that line (near the end where Ripley and the rest are escaping LV426).

I think that's Bishop's Countdown, but I'll check when it gets here. :D

oyu might want to try the mechcommander 1 and 2 soundtracks, most of the stuff on them is pretty lame sounding, but some of it is usable.

Yeah. That track is on the CD (you'll have heard it in about a hundred trailers for other movies too).  It's probably my favourite track on the whole CD.

I was refering to  Kalfireth punching the CD if he bought it just for that sample only to find that it wasn`t on it :)

As for the military beat I did have a look at the DVD for Aliens but there's talking all over it plus the sound of them driving the APC into the dropship.

Something fast, or what? Something like the track I stuck in that test scene?
