Title: Max 5 in XP
Post by: Riven on February 27, 2003, 04:55:18 am
After a long absence due to multipul computer failures, I'm back! With a new PC!:p  Only problem is it is running XP and 3DS MAX 5 really doesnt like it. I think it has something to do with c-dilla. When i start up max it take s ages compared to my only slower pc and once loaded my process goes scitzo. Something makes it jump from 0% usage to 100% usage in a fraction of a second then back to 0%. I cant identify the process that is doing it because it is so fast that the process cpu values dont have time to change. Worse still even after closing max, this bug continues.

The only way i have found to remedy it is to boot in clean mode (only the basic windows processes get loaded) but i dont wana have to reboot every time i use max.

Any one got any ideas???

"C-Dilla RTS 3.27 (license drivers) for NAV issue

If you are experiencing a symptom of severe system slowdown
with max, especially if Task Manager shows WINLOGON taking
100% of CPU time and you have Norton AntiVirus installed, try
turning off RealTime File Protection (if you are permitted to). If
that makes a difference, install the latest licensing drivers
(version 3.27).

new version of the C-Dilla RTS (licensing drivers) which should
alleviate system slowdowns on systems running NAV Corp Edition
7.6x has been made available on the 3ds max support page. You
can download the file from:

ftp://ftp1.discreet.com/web/support/3dstudio/C-Dilla3.27.zip

NOTE: If you transfer the license from system to system be sure
to update all systems. You should avoid transferring the license
between systems with different versions of C-Dilla.

This might be it.

Funny. I don't have that problem. Mine is Windows XP Professional. Maybe that may have something to do with it?
