Internal **** I'm doing for a something- comm room on a crapped-out capship. I'm not gonna have the time to do an actual render, but I felt like posting something. Which I'll probably continue to do in this thread for a few days.

Definitely different. You've certainly got the crapped-out capship feel down to an art.

Nightfall background I was gonna use for a station shot, but it's not exactly the best lighting environment and unless you already knew what the model was, you couldn't tell what it was.

Depends. Mostly Ray Dream Studio. Don't expect to find it in any stores, it's kinda a... unique tool these days.
