You should see the original Japanise film of it. That's scary. Well, what I saw of it anyhow ;) . I even sat though the second one two. Also didn't see all of it ;) . I found them scary.
Must dash, there's a long hair woman clambering out of my TV. (If you haven't seen the film, don't ask.)

Been there done that. I saw both. :shaking:
Been to cinema to see the amer version and my friends were really "thoughtfull" that they got for us the best seats. Front row center with the speakers only 3 meters from us. Remember the awefull sounds and all...just immagine.
No really but what is irronic about it is that it is a GIRL walking out of the TV crawling and just looking at you and you uuurgh..Must...think...happy....thoughts

why do you find that ironic?
i find it creepy ;)
-
Because she is just too young to kill. I kinda expected her to be much older. By the way, who would suspect a little girl comming out of TV and killing people? At least they can't see her face.
-
EHehehehehe! Now THAT was good!
-
Funny thing is, they translated The Ring's title into Hebrew as "Ha Tziltzul" (The Ring)", but they used the word for a telephone or bell ring, not a circular, ring-of-power ring. :p

That's not even remotely ironic. It is exceptionally disconcerting though, which is kind of the point.

But what Japanese word was it translated from? "Ring" has a double meaning in English that makes sense (for this movie) either way you interpret it.

No idea, and I've never seen the movie, so I wouldn't know. All I've seen is the circular ring on the poster.

Maybe we should start making paradoies of advertisements or movies to fit FreeSpace inside.

Don't even think about going to see it. You will probably be scared to death when either a phone rings or when you look at your TV or monitor screen.

1. Ring- as a circular object or because it all goes arround arround and arround and it will never stop. You have to see the movie to understand that.
2. Ring- Phone ringing and ringing and ringing.

"Ringu", whatever that means...
-
The original author of the books actually was flipping through an english dictionary when he came upon the word "ring". He liked the fact that it had many interpretation, mainly being that it meant to call out to some one. Only afterwards did the title have connotations to circular objects. Originally it was meant as "calling/reaching out" which is the whole emphasis of the books/films.

Are you trying to say that this was all done according to a book?

Geez. How could someone write such a sick book and make it into a sicker movie.
